Job Description:

Summary

The I&E and Controls Engineer of ProPetro Energy Solutions (ProPWR) is a key role in the engineering department leading the implementation and development of controls, instrumentation and electronics sub-systems for ProPWR equipment from Physical to Application layer. Documentation development inclusive of trouble shooting steps for field employees, integration drawings for interconnection of multiple pieces of equipment into our Data Van's and offer remote support to personnel requiring SME support for equipment operating in the field. Furthermore, the I&E Engineer will be responsible for data interconnect, visualization and predictive algorithms of ProPWR's assets into our remote monitoring and operations LIVE Center. The role will require travel to active sites as well as vendors where equipment is being constructed.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead integration of various equipment types into a visualization platform customized for stakeholder groups.
  • Develop milestones and track progress to achieve objectives.
  • Lead and support as SME for controls platform.
  • Lead integration of assets and systems into LIVE Platform.
  • Develop I&E and controls documentation on a system and sub-system level.
    • Diagrams and general support
    • Troubleshooting
    • Data visualization manuals
    • Equipment and system level
    • Communications and controls architecture
  • Support in power systems engineering functions.
  • Provide sustained engineering and troubleshooting of equipment operating in-field.
  • Interact with vendors and third-party suppliers.
  • Stay up to date as it relates to controls technology, innovative solutions and system optimization.
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics or electrical engineering, preferred.
  • At least 5-years' experience in controls, electronics and/or electrical systems with equivalent certifications, preferred.
  • Proficient in PLC and control systems.
  • Proficient in communications protocols: Modbus, TCP/IP, CANbus, ethernet, serial devices.
  • Experience in development of single-line and three-line diagrams for electrical and/or control systems.
  • Familiarity with AC systems up to 15kV and DC systems up to 120V.
  • Experience in generator control systems is a plus.
  • Capable of performing root cause analysis and providing corrective actions.
  • Experience working in field operations and troubleshooting of instrumentation, electronics and control systems.
  • Skilled with electrical measurement devices, instrumentation and tooling.
  • Proficient with Visio, SmartDraw or similar software tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and wide variety of software programs.
  • Possess extreme sense of ownership and highly collaborative.
  • Willing to train team members and dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Responsive, action oriented and agile in decision making.
  • Willingness to travel as needed between Midland (the Permian Basin) and Houston.
