Advanced Materials Characterization Core Facility

Job Description

The Advanced Materials Characterization Core Facility (AMCC) at University of Missouri, Science and Technology is seeking applicants for a non-academic, full time Senior Research Specialist to operate, manage, support and conduct research in the area of analytical electron microscopy of materials, in particular, JXA-iHP200F-Field Emission Electron Probe Microanalyzer (FE-EPMA) Prisma SEM and Raith eLine PLUS e-beam Lithography instruments.

Primary Responsibilities will be the operation and training on a JXA-iHP200F Microprobe, Prisma SEM, Raith eLine PLUS e-beam lithography systems. Cross-training on a Tecnai F20 TEM, Helios Hydra CX FIB and Helios Nanolab 600 FIB would be a secondary responsibility. This position reports to the Director of the AMCC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation of JXA-iHP200F-Microprobe, Prisma SEM and Raith eLine PLUS e-beam lithography instruments and associated accessories
  • Provide Training and instructions to users for the instruments and provide routine maintenance and calibration of the instruments.
  • Work with the students and faculty researchers to develop new microprobe and lithography methods of materials characterization.
  • Conduct demonstrations of the instruments to visiting classes or external groups
  • Assist in the teaching of lab courses on the electron beam instruments
  • Give presentations covering the capabilities and novel techniques to campus and professional societies
Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree with emphasis in an appropriate area of science is preferred, as well as 3-5 years experience in Electron Microscopy
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience operating a JXA-iHP200F Field Emission Electron Probe Microanalyzer (FE-EPMA) and Raith eLine PLUS e-beam lithography system
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,223 to $64,860 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
