Duro-Last Roofing, the world's largest manufacturer of prefabricated PVC roofing systems, has an opening for a Corporate Lean Manager located at their Headquarters in Saginaw, Michigan. The Corporate Lean Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the operation including process, automation, assembly operations and warehouse operations for current production and new products. This is a full-time, salaried based position with a starting salary range of $100,000 - 120,000 with bonus incentive.

Position Scope:

The position will be responsible for facilitation of Kaizen events and implementation of all lean practices including application of lean tools such as 5s, Value stream mapping, work cell layout, KATA coaching and many others. The position will be hands on and will work on cross functional teams across multiple sites. This includes educating peers through facilitation of Lean activities.

  • Time Studies and Standardization
  • Improve Product Flow through Value Stream Mapping
  • Design Work Cell Layouts
  • Data Driven Process Optimizations
  • Track and Monitor Current Product Development and/or Changes.
  • Interaction with Customers and Outside Vendors.
  • Enhancing Product Quality and Building Quality into Processes/Operations
  • Initiate Lead and/or Monitor Continuous Improvement activities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated to strive for manufacturing excellence through continuous improvement activities
  • Support production in reducing / eliminating wastes, utilizing good analytical methodologies, and Lean methodologies
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support
  • Capable of facilitating Kaizen events

Other Functions:

  • Routinely visit plants to provide support, evaluate plant operations, and provide requested assistance.
  • Evaluate operations for potential kaizen events and lean training opportunities.
  • Provide guidance to site lean implementers on lean projects.
  • Write lean training and business documents, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Manufacturing Experience (Injection and Extrusion)
  • Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma) Green belt certified and Lean certifications
  • 5 years Continuous Improvement Experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent leadership and facilitation skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with various levels in the organization
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Travel required 50% to 75% of work week.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, occasionally on short notice.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at manufacturing sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
