Job Description

The Division of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Agricultural Education and Leadership. This is a nine-month tenure-track appointment to support teaching and research in the Division's agricultural education and leadership program. Based on qualifications, a candidate appointed at the Associate professor rank will be eligible for tenure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and teaching courses in the area of agricultural leadership. Research should focus on the linkages among teaching, learning, and leadership. This could include teacher retention, effective teaching strategies, youth/student motivation, evaluation of programs, and emergent opportunities in sustainability leadership/education. Faculty are expected to engage in grant work, particularly collaborative efforts with other faculty within Division and College with an emphasis on USDA-NIFA, Higher Ed Challenge Grants, and potentially NSF. Teaching expectations include courses on leadership, leadership theory, and application. Courses may be delivered via traditional classroom and/or online format. Other teaching, undergraduate student organization advising, advising of students, and/or service responsibilities may be assigned in place of the above should our needs change.

We are interested in candidates whose professional background, research, and/or teaching interests complement DASS's existing strengths in agricultural education and communication and agricultural policy analysis. DASS is home to several research and outreach centers, including the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI), the Rural and Farm Finance Policy Analysis Center (RaFF), the Graduate Institute of Cooperative Leadership (GICL), the Financial Research Institute (FRI), the McQuinn Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and the Interdisciplinary Center for Food Security. DASS has a strong tradition of granting faculty extraordinary latitude to develop new and innovative centers, programs, and activities.
