Overview: Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. is seeking a strong Environmental Scientist to add to our team in St. Louis, MO

Loureiro’s goal is to employ the right individuals as the foundation for our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team. Specifically, this means working closely with experienced professionals who will help provide the formal training and mentoring necessary to allow you to expand your practical knowledge of what environmental programs entail. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of environmental reports.
  • Provide support relative to the implementation of various environmental regulatory compliance programs involving air, water, waste, and community right-to-know regulations.
  • Be familiar with air emission standards and emissions tracking and/or be able to pick up concepts quickly and execute with excruciating attention to detail.
  • Monitor and/or report on industrial discharge to surface water and publicly owned treatment works in accordance with the governing regulatory requirements and/or permits.
  • Calculate waste generation status using information provided by facility personnel related to their processes, waste profiles, waste manifests, etc.
  • Administer various training programs including topics involved with hazardous materials, hazardous waste, various safety disciplines, and hazard communication
  • Conduct EHS compliance audits – including the development and implementation of corrective actions to address areas of liability.
  • Ensure that our clients are operating in compliance with the governing federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Support clients through external audits – e.g., third party, regulatory, enforcement.
  • Assist clients with regard to storm water sampling which includes collecting and managing storm water samples as well as the ability to travel to clients’ sites to obtain samples.
  • Provide on-site EHS support to a variety of clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and the ability to sort through data for deliverables such as applicability determinations, air emissions tracking, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and excruciating attention to detail.
  • Possess the drive and motivation to create high quality work products and/or deliverables.
  • Ability to travel to client sites for, as examples, field work, compliance audits, gap assessments, management systems assessments, storm water sampling.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a very fast-paced environment and work on several projects at the same time.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills (and the wherewithal to know when to use which method of communication).



Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, hiking, and standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Mobility control of hands to set up equipment, handle samples, and operate tools.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
