The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team!

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for an Administrative Support Specialist. The Administrative Support Specialist provides administrative support for the MTA Police Force. Under general supervision, this position must maintain the highest standards of confidentially. Data Entry: Enters citations (Moving, State, Parking, Criminal, Civil, SERO) into RMS system. Sends parking citation trial request to district courts and updating database when citations are paid. Enters race base forms into Delta-Plus, enters 96s in the police performance database, create 97s, and distributes them to the districts. Processes internal and external report request or other duties as assigned. Clerical Duties: Sorts summonses, subpoenas, and trial dates alphabetically, as well as date stamps, and enters them into PowerDMS. Assists with preparing files or archives or other duties as assigned. Creates personnel folders for new employees and archive folders. Maintains and updates personnel folders or other duties as assigned. Processes internal and external (email/mail) report requests, redaction of reports. Reviews reports for accuracy, grammar, spelling, and incident validation warnings, and reviews ACRS reports for order of vehicles, narrative, diagram, and local case number or other duties assigned. Professionally answers phone calls from the public, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, MTA or MTAPF personnel, or other duties as assigned.

The Administrative Support Specialist position involves weekly review of work. It requires interaction with both internal and external personnel as well as the general public. This position requires a highly independent individual who is detail-oriented, digitally proficient, and adaptable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to think on their feet, effectively prioritize tasks, and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. *One (1) year of experience must have been performing administrative duties in a law enforcement, legal, or regulatory environment.

Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
