Description

Vedder Price's Chicago office is looking for a Professional Development Coordinator. The Professional Development ("PD") Coordinator will work closely with the Attorney Training Manager, Director of Professional Development, and Professional Development Assistant ("PDA") to help facilitate Vedder Price University ("VPU") educational attorney/paralegal training programs and to ensure the delivery of high-quality continuing legal education ("CLE") programming. The PD Coordinator will oversee and maintain the administration of the firm's CLE/training database (CE Manager). The PD Coordinator will work with the PDA to ensure that all attorneys' CLE records are updated to ensure compliance and meet applicable state requirements. The PD Coordinator will use their familiarity with CLE rules in various jurisdictions to assist the Attorney Training Manager with the administration of the CLE/compliance component of the Firm's VPU training programs. They will also utilize their research skills to respond to CLE and training-related questions, including generating quarterly and annual Accredited CLE Provider reports.

As a Professional Development Coordinator, your duties will include but not be limited to:



  • Work with and oversee the PDA to ensure that attorneys' CLE credits/requirements and license information are updated and maintained utilizing CE Manager database
  • Work with the PD team to execute all training programs and events, including oversight of PDA's logistic and calendaring coordination to ensure success of training programs
  • Communicate Regularly with Attorney Training Manager and Vedder Price attorneys (verbally and electronically) regarding their CLE requirements/credits
  • Stay abreast of continuing education rules, regulations and compliance requirements and maintain responsibility for overseeing attorney deadlines in states/regions in which Vedder Price has offices, including developing a working knowledge of CLE publication and teaching credit requirements in at least CA, IL, NJ, NY, TX, VA, FL, MD, and England/Wales
  • Communicate with clients regarding CLE programs and regulations and work with Marketing and Records Departments to ensure proper file maintenance and attendance for client CLE programs
  • Maintain responsibility for registration for and coordination of CLE programs sponsored by external vendors, including pre- and post-program follow-up
  • Assist in the attorney new hire process, including enrolling attorneys in their correct learning paths on the LMS platform.
  • Track admitted CLE credits and maintain responsibility for ensuring that each practice group's records are updated accordingly, including meeting applicable CLE requirements
  • Prepare quarterly and annual Accredited CLE Provider reports
  • Communicate with CE Manager personnel to ensure that the database meets firm needs
  • Assist Attorney Training Manager in coordinating firm's Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentor and Summer Associate programs
  • Assist Attorney Training Manager in updating PD/Training/CLE Annual Calendar and other training and CLE documents
  • Work with Attorney Training Manager to develop and execute best practice for annual Bar Registrations


Skills & Competencies:



  • Must have excellent oral/written communication and listening skills and have the ability to communicate across all levels inside and outside the firm; excellent customer service and diplomacy skills required
  • Strong research skills and understanding of various states' CLE rules and practices
  • Keen attention to detail/strict deadlines and ability to follow directions
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with ability to effectively and efficiently manage and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor and discretion required
  • Must be a team player who works well with others and independently while maintaining a sense of humor


Qualifications & Required Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous legal industry experience and familiarity with CLE required. Previous experience with CE Manager preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience preferred in training and professional development programs, preferably within a law firm or legal services environment


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the following software:



  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • CE Manager, viDesktop, Capensys, or other learning management systems.


Compensation Range: 58,000/yr. to $65,000/yr.
