Performs a variety of duties in and around the building(s) of hospital-owned properties, such as Main Building, Physician Clinics, etc. Operates and maintains electrical and mechanical equipment and systems. Builds and maintains structures and spaces throughout the hospital campus. Assists in the planning and oversight of construction projects throughout the entire campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school graduate or GED equivalent 2. 2 years' commercial/domestic construction experience 3. Valid driver's license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: EXPERIENCE: 1. 3 years' experience in a healthcare setting or equivalent preferred 2. 2 years' vocational training preferred 3. 4 years' commercial/domestic construction experience preferred CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Assists with maintaining hospital grounds (mowing, weed-eating, snow removal, etc.) 2. Maintains equipment, performing routine checks and maintenance as assigned. 3. Performs preventative measures and repairs items as assigned. 4. Troubleshoots equipment issues and follows up with appropriate course of action. 5. Use computerized requisition system for duty assignment and record of completion. 6. Assists in construction of various projects. 7. Performs inspections as assigned. 8. Reports unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately. 9. May assist security as needed . 10. Meets with Director and others to plan construction needs 11. Assist in the coordination and oversight of construction projects - including scheduling IT and other needed service lines to complete the project 12. Obtains materials for construction projects 13. Maintains project timelines and communicates issues/progress to Director and others as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires a full range of body motions, including handling and lifting heavy items up to 100 lbs. Must be able to carry 60 to 100 lbs. for at least 50 ft., to ascend and descend stairs and ladders. 2. Required standing and walking for extensive periods. 3. Requires working under quick acting and stressful conditions at times. 4. Required working the full range of shift work, including nights and weekends. Call may be required. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Ability to use various tools. 2. Basic mechanical knowledge. On-the-job training will be provided for specific duties. 3. Basic computer skills and communication skills required.
