The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.

Our team is looking to hire a Data Science Course Developer. This position designs, develops, tests, and maintains curriculum materials, software application,s and systems programs.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation and teaching materials pertaining to Data Science.
  • Works on more diverse and complex programming assignments that require advanced knowledge
  • Evaluate user requests to determine feasibility, cost and time requirements and system compatibility.
  • Develops specifications based on user and system requirements.
  • May guide or train lower-level staff.
  • Participates on departmental and cross-functional project teams.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field

Experience: 3 to 5 years of operating systems administrative experience including:

  • Experience with Python, Large Language Models (LLM) (prompt development, pretraining, finetuning, and RLHF), software development and model deployment on cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Previous experience in designing coursework and/or teaching is preferred

A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
