Job Summary The Organization Development (OD) Consultant is responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing strategies to advance leadership and organizational development, team effectiveness, culture transformation, and change management initiatives at Northwestern University. This role provides consulting, coaching, and program development services that enable organizational growth and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The OD Consultant collaborates closely with HR colleagues, both within central HR and across schools and units, to ensure alignment and integration of organizational development efforts university-wide. *Note: Not all aspects of the job are covered by this job description. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements comprehensive OD strategies that support leadership development, enhance team performance, and foster a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Designs and facilitates team development programs, interventions, and workshops that strengthen team dynamics and improve organizational effectiveness across various schools/units.
- Acts as a change agent by supporting schools/units in planning and implementing change management strategies.
- Conducts organizational assessments to identify performance gaps and recommends improvement solutions that align with University goals.
- Partners with leadership and other stakeholders to deliver customized coaching and consulting services that address specific development needs, and serves as a consultant to leaders in their organizational planning to ensure alignment with broader strategic goals.
- Leads initiatives focused on culture transformation, ensuring alignment with Northwestern's mission and values.
- Designs and deploys tools and resources to measure the impact and sustainability of OD initiatives, using feedback to continually improve effectiveness.
- Collaborates with HR Business Partners, Director of Inclusion, and other cross-functional teams to integrate OD practices into broader talent and organizational strategies.
*Will perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in organizational development, leadership development, or change management, with a proven record of successful program design and implementation.
- Skills:
- Expertise in team development, change management, and leadership coaching.
- Strong facilitation, consulting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in using organizational assessment tools and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree in Organizational Development, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: 8 years of experience in organizational development. Experience leading large-scale change management initiatives within a complex organization. Proficiency in organizational assessment tools and psychometric instruments, such as DiSC, MBTI, or Hogan.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to assess organizational needs and outcomes.
- Ability to design and implement impactful OD strategies across diverse teams and units.
Target hiring range for this position will be between $115,000 - $125,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
