POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State is currently seeking a Marketing Director in supporting Four Diamonds, a gift fund dedicated to conquering childhood cancer by assisting children and their families through superior care, comprehensive support and innovative research. As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, you can play an integral role in Penn State's future and contribute to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Digital Fundraising Strategy and working closely with the Four Diamonds team, as well as other partners, the Marketing Director will:

  • Execute and coordinate the production of marketing and/or promotional communications that may include print, electronic, social media, new/emerging media, and other collateral that is in accordance with the unit's approved strategic marketing plan and objectives;

  • Articulate Penn State's needs, ambitions, and values through excellent informal and formal communications;

  • Contribute to content for fact sheets, brochures, articles, newsletters, speaker remarks, and other internal or external communications;

  • Edit and proofread publications, including websites, advertisements, articles, brochures, feature stories, etc.;

  • Prepare creative briefs for concept development and creative expression; deliver presentations of creative work to clients;

  • Provide supervision, leadership and guidance to a small team, including direct supervision of two staff members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment;

  • Monitor news and media presence; monitor and track analytics of website and digital traffic

  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, contractual obligations, confidentiality and privacy policies, and style and standard guidelines;

  • Plan and oversee the implementation of event promotions;

  • Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners on campaigns;

  • Monitor and communicate the status of tactical campaign implementation with clients and management;

  • Collaborate in the planning of marketing and/or communications strategy for Four Diamonds.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Leadership and management experience, including at least 2 years of managing employees, with a collaborative approach to working across teams and partners;

  • Demonstrated success leading multi-channel marketing campaigns-including print, digital, social media, and event promotions-aligned with strategic goals;

  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills;

  • The ability to create and maintain an inclusive and respectful environment for all students and colleagues;

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills to effectively communicate Four Diamonds' mission and impact across diverse audiences;

  • Experience managing creative development, collaborating with agencies and vendors, and presenting marketing concepts to stakeholders;

  • Proficiency in tracking digital analytics, ensuring accessibility compliance, and maintaining brand standards;

  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team;

  • A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
