General Summary:

The Financial Analyst interprets business situations in order to develop quality, timely and impactful financial analysis and effectively communicate the financial implications in a collaborative manner. This role provides key support role for development of budgets/forecasts across the organization and actively works with a variety of stakeholders, helping them to solve problems and achieve goals.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Evaluates/quantifies impacts of various business scenarios and plans; provide detailed analytical support for ROI and other financial components of capital projects, new business opportunities, IT projects, sales and marketing initiatives, etc.;
  • Analyzes the financial performance of the business, recognizing opportunities and concerns as they arise and consulting with other team members to develop alternatives for improving financial performance;
  • Assists with the annual budget, periodic re-forecasts, and long range planning processes:

    • Develops budget models and templates - including revenue, cost of sales, overhead expenses, capital projects, balance sheets, cash flow;
    • Develops annual labor/benefits projections;
    • Assists/supports "budget owners" with completion of individual budget submissions;
    • Analyzes budget submissions, review for reasonableness, explain key variances - create bridges from prior projections/results;


  • Administers the Budgeting and Reporting software (Adaptive Planning); Support the entire organization as the subject matter expert for Adaptive Planning;
  • Identifies and implements process improvements for FP&A and related processes;
  • Prepares and publishes monthly metric reports including: capital spending reports, key operational measurement reports, etc.;
  • Assists in drafting budget/forecast presentations and period result communications;
  • Monitors and reports monthly actual results as compared to budget, forecast, and previous year; Explains key variances in presentation format;
  • Ad-hoc analysis and special projects as needed by the business.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Sound technical finance skills with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement relationships;
  • Experience with budgeting, financial analysis and financial modeling - supporting multiple functional areas across the organization (i.e. sales, operations, marketing, HR, IT, etc);
  • Systems aptitude including specific experience with Budgeting and Reporting systems (Adaptive Planning a plus);
  • Ability to extrapolate data patterns and complete timely analysis despite ambiguous or incomplete data sets;
  • Ability to collect data, research and synthesize complex or diverse information with focus on problem resolution;
  • Understands facts and trends impacting the business, with a thorough understanding of functional relationships and activity;
  • High proficiency at spreadsheet modeling skills;
  • Ability to think critically, ask effective questions, and draw appropriate conclusions;
  • Instinctively review financial work to ensure data ties out, makes sense, and solves the question being asked;
  • High quality output - quality assurance on one's own work;
  • Analytical insight and curiosity - with a strong bias toward continuous learning;
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization - with a collaborative, partnering mentality;
  • Comfortable working on a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills combined with effective presentation skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
