Credit and Collections Manager

Job Summary:
The Credit and Collections Manager will be responsible for managing the company's credit policies, overseeing the collection of overdue accounts, and ensuring timely payments from customers. The manager will also assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers and ensure compliance with legal and financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Credit Management:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies and procedures.
    • Assess creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.
    • Set credit limits and payment terms for customers based on risk assessment.
    • Monitor customer accounts and review credit limits on a regular basis.
  • Collections:
    • Supervise the collections process and ensure timely collection of outstanding debts.
    • Coordinate with the collections team to develop strategies for reducing overdue accounts.
    • Contact customers regarding overdue invoices and resolve disputes related to payments.
    • Negotiate payment terms and settlements with customers.
    • Escalate overdue accounts to legal or external collection agencies when necessary.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable, overdue accounts, and credit risks.
    • Analyze payment trends, customer behavior, and collection efforts to identify areas for improvement.
    • Provide recommendations for adjustments in credit policy based on findings.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead and manage a team of credit and collections professionals.
    • Train and mentor staff in credit evaluation and collection strategies.
    • Work closely with sales, accounting, and legal departments to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
  • Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and legal requirements.
    • Continuously assess and mitigate credit risks within the company's portfolio.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in credit and collections management or a related role (typically 5+ years).
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk management, accounting principles, and financial regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and make sound decisions.
  • Leadership skills with experience managing a team.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
