Position Description:

Responsible for management of all activities related to the organization of material to support all production, repair, spare and prototype customer orders. Will have a team of employees reporting directly. Besides managing buyers and employees, this individual may also be tasked to create and manage individual purchase orders and subcontracts. Supply chain experience required and APICS certification strongly preferred (CPIM). Working knowledge of ERP systems and controls (IFS, SAP, or equivalent), and continuous improvement required. Green belt certification is considered a plus.

Essential Functions:

Materials Management

  • Plans and coordinates activities to procure materials
  • Manages department activities and works collaboratively with other functions including Contracts, Programs, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and other company locations to achieve business objectives
  • Continuously monitors inventory availability and movement of materials, supplies and services to meet production and delivery schedules
  • Develop short and long range materials management programs to minimize inventory costs and meet schedule requirements
  • Provide for alternate plans in the event of unforeseen contingencies
  • Prepare reports of order status, budget forecasts, inventory and production control activities as required
  • As a team leader, hold members accountable for performance through clear direction and the use of fair, objective criteria. Provides routine feedback coaching and mentoring for member development
  • Optimize the use of assets to meet/exceed sales and production schedules.
Operations Strategic Planning & Development
  • Drives production costs to the lowest possible level in collaboration with the other Kearfott sites
  • Facilitates the development of talent and skills in the workforce.
Continuous Improvement
  • Strives to achieve operational excellence by providing internal and external customers with industry leading quality, delivery, responsiveness and cost.
  • Works continuously to improve relevant processes and minimize COPQ.
  • Provides mentorship and coaching to direct reports to help guide them and drive better processes, procedures, and overall operations.

Education & Experience:

  • 8+ years in materials management, production control and supply chain within Aerospace environment with progressive management responsibilities
  • Bachelor's degree in associated discipline required - advanced degree (including MBA) preferred
  • Certifications: APICS preferred; Green Belt a plus, Black Belt preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (IFS, SAP or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR and CPSR requirements is necessary
  • Direct experience with supporting audits (AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, USG Cost and Pricing audits)
  • Supply chain experience including negotiation of purchase orders, including blanket and long term agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate status and recovery plans with Customers is required.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate across all functions and with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel domestically is required as well as internationally as needed
  • US citizen /Ability to work on U.S. government programs and obtain a security clearance if needed.
