JOB PURPOSE
We are currently seeking a Lead System Administrator to manage and secure our organization's IT infrastructure. This role involves integrating, configuring, and maintaining operating systems and network solutions across tactical and enterprise environments. The administrator will enhance data center operations, support distributed lab activities, and ensure all systems comply with DISA standards. This position is essential for maintaining efficient, secure, and compliant operations in a dynamic test and evaluation environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
- Manage a 6-member NOC team, overseeing schedules, timecards, and performance evaluations while promoting cross-training in network engineering, systems administration, and cybersecurity to ensure operational coverage and team versatility.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and continuity strategies for network operations, ensuring preparedness for outages and cybersecurity incidents.
- Produce detailed network diagrams, configuration records, and troubleshooting guides using tools like Visio to ensure accurate documentation of all network configurations and processes.
- Oversee the configuration, deployment, and management of operating systems supporting lab infrastructure, including DISA authorized Windows Environments, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server, and specialized PoR systems such as Red Hawk Linux and HP-UX.
- Manage the setup, configuration, and operations of enterprise data centers leveraging Microsoft and Linux servers, Red Hat OpenShift, hypervisor virtualization, and other commercial software solutions.
- Maintain and update hardware and software across both classified and unclassified network systems, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability through regular installations and updates.
- Provide comprehensive systems and network support throughout the engineering and integration of pre-test, test, and post-test mission events, including technical assistance for Test and Evaluation activities.
- Configure and maintain domain management features such as Group Policy, DNS, file replication, and Active Directory user accounts on domain controllers.
- Implement DISA and STIG-compliant security measures, manage Trellix products, and conduct regular system audits to protect all associated networks/domains/enclaves, workstations, systems, and firewall equipment.
- Regularly patch Windows and Linux domain workstations, address any issues with WSUS or yum updates, and ensure all systems are secure and up to date.
- Perform regular data backups to prevent data loss and enable quick restoration in the event of hardware failure or other disruptions.
- Interpret, assess, implement, and deploy IA/Cybersecurity compliance artifacts onto DoD systems and networks in both operational and engineering test environments.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support system maintenance activities, configurations, and changes, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Licensure/Credentials Required:
- This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level, and a favorably adjudicated T5/T5R (or equivalent) background investigation. Individual must maintain the necessary security requirements for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must currently possess a Security+ certification (DoD Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2) or can obtain it within six months of employment
Required Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in system administration, including direct experience with Domain Controller features such as Domain Name System, Active Directory Users and Computers, File Server, Group Policy, and Windows Server Update Services
- Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides
- Experience in the implementation, configuration, and deployment, and daily administration of operating systems to include Windows Operating Environment and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Proficiency in managing virtualized 2019 and 2022 Windows Server environments on Hyper-V, with knowledge in DNS, Group Policy, and Active Directory
- Performing laboratory infrastructure modifications such as cable fabrication, installation, and removal
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Education:
- Bachelors in related field (i.e. networking, computer science, cyber security) preferred
Preferred Experience:
- CompTIA Linux+ certification
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or similar certifications
- Experience with PowerShell, SQL, SCAP, ACAS, VMware/vSphere, and network management tools such as Nagios, Wireshark, SolarWinds
- Proficiency in system administration for Windows Server environments (2019/2022), VMware/vSphere, and automation tools such as PowerShell or Python.
- Managing, monitoring, tracking, coordinating and executing keymat rollover of inline encryption devices such as KG-175s
- Experience managing, monitoring, tracking, and renewing DISA port exceptions and border change requests to ensure continuity of data and voice communications
