JOB PURPOSE
We are currently seeking a Network Engineer II to design, deploy, and manage secure network infrastructures with a focus on CANES (Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services) and ADNS (Automated Digital Network System) platforms. This role will involve ensuring cybersecurity implementations and compliance within DoD environments, managing complex network configurations, and supporting both tactical and enterprise data communications in distributed lab settings. The Network Engineer will play a key role in enhancing system capabilities, maintaining network security, and ensuring alignment with organizational strategic objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
- Architect and maintain network infrastructures utilizing OSPF, IPSEC, GRE, RPVST+, TCP/IP, UDP, VLANs, and tunneling protocols to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Configure and manage firewalls and encryption devices, maintaining the security and integrity of multiple security domains within DoD testing and engineering laboratory environments.
- Manage advanced network environments, including SDN and virtualized settings using VMware and ESXi, alongside traditional Cisco IOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux setups.
- Oversee the technical planning, setup, loading, configuration, and operations of enterprise data centers, incorporating Microsoft and Linux servers, Red Hat OpenShift, and hypervisor virtualization technologies.
- Produce and maintain detailed network diagrams, configuration records, and troubleshooting guides using tools like Visio, ensuring accurate documentation of all network processes.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, applying standardized troubleshooting procedures to minimize downtime and enhance user productivity.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to boost network performance and security, ensuring alignment with the organization's operational requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cybersecurity, system administration, and leadership teams to align network operations with organizational priorities and compliance standards, providing detailed technical reports and recommendations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Licensure/Credentials Required:
- This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level, and a favorably adjudicated T5/T5R (or equivalent) background investigation. Individual must maintain the necessary security requirements for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must currently possess a Security+ certification (DoD Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2) or can obtain it within six months of employment
Required Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration and 2 years in network engineering, preferably in a NOC environment
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- DoD IAT Level II certified
- Proficient understanding of networking protocols
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Preferred Education:
- Bachelors in related field (i.e. networking, computer science, cyber security) preferred
Preferred Experience:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Advanced knowledge of network management and diagnostic tools, including Nagios, Wireshark, SolarWinds, and SIEM platforms like Splunk.
- Experience with CANES (Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services), demonstrating deep familiarity and technical proficiency.
