Your Role at Pivot As a Healthcare Designer, you will manage projects of moderate complexity, contributing actively to client interactions and design solutions. This role emphasizes developing technical proficiency, improving client engagement, efficiently handling project responsibilities, and creating high-quality deliverables. You will collaborate closely with a dynamic team to uphold high design and customer satisfaction standards while working alongside sales, project management, and procurement support. In Addition, You Will Be Responsible For:
- Project and Client Management
- Complete the overall scope of projects of increasing complexity, including programming, strategic planning, conceptual designs, space planning, OSHPD/HCAI submittals, presentations, design development, and production; delegate and oversee fulfillment of design deliverables as required.
- Establish and manage moderately complex design project budgets, scopes, contracts, and OSHPD/HCAI submittals, coordinating deliverables with internal and outsourced design resources.
- Proficiently handle customer and industry partner interactions, clearly articulating design ideas and rationale for design decisions and project outcomes.
- Deliver project solutions that enhance the customer experience, focusing on engagement, business development, and tailored, innovative design solutions.
- Design Strategy and Innovation
- Incorporate and execute creative design strategies, utilizing knowledge of evidence-based design, sustainable design, workplace strategy, and partner products and solutions.
- Actively participate in discussions and workshops with clients and industry partners, proposing design solutions and developing experience in addressing client challenges independently.
- Demonstrate proficiency in creating and developing overall design concepts and formulating design presentation strategies with an understanding of healthcare design history and trends. Proactively identify project risks, propose creative solutions and alternatives, work independently to execute the next steps, and evaluate results.
- Operational Excellence
- Champion design operational excellence by consistently implementing established design processes and documentation standards; manage and record billable hours, cultivate efficiencies, and strive to reduce and eliminate errors.
- Demonstrate proficient time management skills and flexibility, effectively addressing competing priorities and urgent situations, making sound decisions within short timeframes with appropriate action.
- Technical Proficiency
- Display proficiency in building systems, building code, MEP [Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing], and cabling requirements, applying technical knowledge and ensuring compliance.
- Exhibit proficient technical and graphic presentation skills for design development and presentation using CET Designer, Revit, AutoCAD, CAP Worksheet, and Scout. Build foundational familiarity with tools like BIM 360, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite as project activities require.
- Demonstrate proficiency in curating solutions from an expansive product portfolio, including clinical and office furniture systems, ancillary, accessories, and bespoke items.
- Mentorship and Team Collaboration
- Mentor and train junior design team members, contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Engage in ongoing learning, enhancing skills in strategic areas of focus, including partner products and solutions, evidence-based design, sustainable design, design tools and technology, workplace strategy, and advancements in healthcare planning and design.

- 2+ years of professional experience and a bachelor's degree in architecture or interior Design from an accredited 4-year university or equivalent combination of education and industry experience, including a proven record of leading projects.
- Must be working toward Healthcare Interior Design certification or equivalent.
- Active membership in a professional organization.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Familiarity with applicable codes, regulatory agencies, and regulations associated with healthcare environments.
- Strong mentoring skills and ability to lead, train, and direct the work of others.
- Proven history of success in maintaining and growing client relationships and a sense of business acumen to advise and guide clients as required.
- Strong, persuasive communicator with excellent verbal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex design concepts to clients.
- Knowledge of the total project process, including fee and project team management, schedules, and budgets.
