Position Overview:
The Environmental Specialist is responsible for supporting on-going environmental efforts to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations at the Gopher Resource Tampa (GRT) facility and other Company locations as assigned

Critical Success Criteria:



  • Perform regular audits, training, and maintains permits to ensure GRT is in compliance with applicable environmental rules, requirements and regulations
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement by utilizing GRT's environmental compliance systems
  • Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and work instructions as necessary to drive continuous environmental performance improvement




    Responsibilities:



    • Perform environmental compliance inspections as required by regulatory framework and operating permits
    • Complete monthly data reviews and performance tracking for continuously monitored compliance data
    • Verify and maintain up-to-date compliance records as required by all permits
    • Assist in preparation and submittal of regulatory compliance reports
    • Assist in tracking environmental compliance performance and driving continuous improvement
    • Respond to vendor/customer down-stream vendor questionnaires
    • Assist in maintaining, updating, developing, and giving Environmental Training
    • Assist in developing Environmental Policies and/or Procedures as needed to address compliance with air, waste, and water compliance
    • Keep current on existing and proposed regulations related to program areas assigned
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Environmental Manager, VP of Environmental, or VP of Operations




    Requirements:



    • High School Diploma or GED from accredited school minimally required
    • At least 1 year of previous work experience in an environmental role
    • Willingness and ability to learn, understand, and apply government regulations related to air, waste, & water
    • Ability to collaborate with co-workers with varying levels of environmental knowledge and experience across departments
    • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, verbal and written communication abilities, and detail-oriented approach to completion of assignments and tasks
    • Ability to manage priorities, be flexible and agile when adjusting and adapting in a fast-paced environment
    • Desire to learn and grow personally and professionally in the environmental compliance and management field
    • Willingness and ability to wear a full-face respirator mask directly against skin (shaving requirement) with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Willingness and ability to work in a hot/high temperature production facility as needed and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field from accredited College or University preferred, but not required
    • Previous experience working in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting preferred, but not required
    • Previous work experience with the operations of continuous emission monitors (calibration, troubleshooting, cylinder gas audits and RATA's) preferred, but not required
    • Previous work experience with process information database systems preferred, but not required




    Compensation Information:
    Salary Range: $74,040.00 to $118,269.00. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
