DLZ is currently seeking Construction Inspectors for PennDOT (TA, TCI, TCIS, TCM), ODOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Municipal construction projects, and water/wastewater projects in Western Pennsylvania.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform all phases of field assignment. Interpret specifications, working drawings and convey intent to the contractor and owner's representatives.
  • Responsible for all aspects of field inspection, testing, testing coordination, sampling, equipment, and equipment maintenance on assigned project.
  • Obtain and record field data as required by the plans, specifications, or project staff. Generate and compile field reports.
  • Complete daily reports and document construction activities using an iPad or laptop.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment as required.
  • Work with project staff on design changes.
  • Communicate with all entities keeping everyone fully informed.
  • Record daily installed construction quantities to review payment requests in terms of progress and amount completed to date.
  • Act as a positive representative of DLZ and its core values.
  • Understand the public health and safety requirements and be fully trained in the proper safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology or another relevant field preferred
  • Experience performing inspection on PennDOT, ODOT, Turnpike, Municipal, or sewer authority projects
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I
    • NICET Level II or higher in Highway Construction Inspection
    • NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician
    • NECEPT Concrete Field Testing Technician
    • EIT Certification
    • National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO)
    • PennDOT Qualifications: TA, TCI, TCIS, TCM
  • Valid Driver's License with insurable driving record
  • Moderate Travel Required
  • Must have the ability to climb, reach and balance on uneven surfaces. Work will be performed in the field where the ability to stand for long periods of time is required.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with DLZ's Health and Safety Plan
