Description
The Department of Statistics and Data Sciences (SDS) at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Instruction (non tenure-track) faculty positions. SDS is the newest and fastest growing department in the College of Natural Sciences. The department is internationally recognized for its excellence in research in statistical methodology and theory, applied statistics, data science, biostatistics, and machine learning. Its faculty have a strong commitment to providing high quality, innovative educational experiences in statistics and data science to undergraduate and graduate students from across the university, in addition to those enrolled in one of SDS degree programs. The department offers an undergraduate major and minor in Statistics and Data Science, an undergraduate certificate in Applied Statistical Modeling, an M.S. in Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Statistics. The department also offers an online M.S. in Data Science, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science. The department currently has 26 tenured/tenure track faculty and 9 professional track faculty members. While the professional track faculty positions are not eligible for tenure, we hire with the intent that new instructional faculty will become a lasting part of our community. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related discipline by August 2025. While not required, candidates with previous teaching experience and/or professional experience as a statistician, biostatistician, or data scientist are preferred. Application Instructions
