We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Subject Matter Expert I.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Subject Matter Expert I (SME1) as part of the Integration and Test team on the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC) program provides specialized knowledge and technical expertise in JLCCTC to support project teams, leadership, and stakeholders. This role involves advising on best practices, improving processes, and ensuring technical accuracy in system development, testing, and implementation. The SME serves as a key resource for training, troubleshooting, and guiding teams to achieve mission-critical objectives.



  • Provide expert guidance in software testing and system integration ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving complex operational issues related to exercise control, combat & combat support operations, fixed wing operations, and/or combat service support.
  • Experience participating in military constructive/simulated training exercises, from an observer, controller, trainer perspective.
  • Knowledge with military unit hierarchy and organization.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, tools, and methodologies within the field and advise on their implementation.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure effective communication and understanding of requirements.
  • Assess and improve existing workflows, testing methodologies, or system configurations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practice guidelines for teams.
  • Conduct gap analyses and recommend process enhancements for optimizing performance and quality.
  • Train and mentor test engineers, system analysts, or other relevant team members to increase their domain knowledge.
  • Develop and deliver training materials, presentations, or workshops tailored to team needs.
  • Support integration and testing efforts by reviewing test plans, test cases, and validation strategies.
  • Provide operational/tactical subject matter expertise in troubleshooting and defect analysis, assisting teams with debugging and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers, System Engineers, Quality Assurance and Test Engineers to validate that systems meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including developers, systems engineers, program managers, and end users, to ensure solutions meet technical and business objectives.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and decision-making processes to provide expert recommendations.
  • Present findings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership or external stakeholders as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting IT projects/programs, networking, integration and/or systems engineering or DoD Contract/US Military Service.
  • Experience providing high-level presentations and white papers for system engineering reviews, product development, analysis, and validation and verification of engineering solutions
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Highly proficient interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Holds or able to obtain a minimum DOD Secret security clearance, Top Secret preferred.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Domestic and International travel to Military Installations in support of JLCCTC Program activities is required.


OPTIONAL DESIRED CERTIFICATES:



  • Prior experience utilizing JLCCTC system
  • CompTIA Security+
