A successful new hire on UDAR's School of Development Team will be able to balance their vital role in the major gift fundraising effort. The analyst position requires experience, sensitivity, and diplomacy; understanding of the relationship-building strategies involved in securing major gifts; and talent in guiding project work in support of major gifts efforts. Under the direction of our Development Officers, and other major campus stakeholders, this role will manage and triage workflow supporting frontline staff so that they are spending optimal time setting gift strategies, calling on or interacting directly with prospects, and working with senior academic leaders and faculty to advance goals.

School Development Team: Responsible for the creation and execution of a strategic vision to secure transformative philanthropic support for students, faculty, research, and programs in the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, UCSF Fresno, University Library, Department of Physical Therapy, and UCSF Health's Department of Nursing. This high-performing team, in concert with academic and unit leadership, provides direction on significant opportunities, including priorities and objectives, school and program naming, capital projects, and donor stewardship. This position will be a member of a support team that works collaboratively to provide support in achieving innovative fundraising solutions, aligning donor interests with leadership's most pressing needs. School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, UCSF Fresno, University Library, Department of Physical Therapy, and UCSF Health's Department of Nursing. This high-performing team, in concert with academic and unit leadership, provides direction on significant opportunities, including priorities and objectives, school and program naming, capital projects, and donor stewardship. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $143,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Foundation and the Office of University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) are responsible for fostering and strengthening the campus outreach efforts to UCSF constituents and for garnering private support for the campus and the Medical Center. In raising private support, UDAR identifies, qualifies, solicits and stewards donors for the schools, medical centers, departments and programs on campus; accepts and administers all private gifts to the university through The Regents or the UCSF Foundation; and manages all alumni relations activities, campus support group activities and campus events. The UDAR office staffs the UCSF Foundation. The office is also responsible for the design and implementation of fundraising campaigns for UCSF

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 1+ years related work experience
  • Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies
  • Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Skills in diplomacy and maintaining confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service skills and customer focus
  • Experience in project management in a complex environment, preferably higher education or healthcare
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications


  • 2+ years work experience, including internships, work-study, or volunteer work
  • Working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Preferred
  • Experience working with donor databases or CRM systems
