Job Overview
This position is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of security logs, working closely with system and application owners to collect and parse security logs. The Cybersecurity Engineer will help develop and maintain a
comprehensive security log inventory and data dictionary, ensuring all logs are properly documented and categorized.
They will monitor the health of security logs, proactively identifying and resolving any issues that arise to maintain optimal logging functionality. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and enhancing the logging ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipeline platform to support robust and efficient log management processes. Through these efforts, the Cybersecurity Engineer will help ensure that our security infrastructure is continuously monitored and fortifiedagainst potential threats.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive security logging, including intakes, onboarding, implementing, documenting, and running telemetry feeds.
- Manage platforms for data ingestion, correlation, alerting, and ensure cohesive security environment.
- Collaborate with business units, system and app owners to enable security telemetry across tools and destinations 1
- Define logging requirements, solve data flow issues, and ensure compliance.
- Design ingest paths, validate data formats, and ensure minimal latency from new log sources.
- Track metrics (latency, throughput) and implement improvements for reliable, cost-effective log ingestion.
- Develop and maintain a data dictionary for new and existing sources to include records of ingest
- workflows, transformations, and data lineage.
- Ensure compliance with frameworks like PCI-DSS, CCPA, and USGCI throughout the onboarding lifecycle.
- Analyze security telemetry to ensure effective detection use case creation.
- Configure and maintain rsyslog, syslog-ng deployments or other ETL solutions.
- Apply query languages (SPL, SQL, KQL) and create parsers in various platforms (Splunk, Azure).
- Help architect, develop, and optimize ETL pipelines for on-prem and cloud data sources.
- Collaborate in the evaluation of new technologies and platforms.
- Participate in Cybersecurity initiatives and ensure proper visibility and monitoring of environments.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent work experience
Work Experience
- 2-4 years Experience in info security technology or related field (Required)
- Strong knowledge of multiple security subject areas (Preferred)
- Some knowledge of critical security elements, threats, vulnerabilities, and safeguards (Preferred)
- Knowledge of information security policies and regulatory controls (per team function) (Preferred)
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate internally, upward, and multi-functional; ability to work with cross-functional team members to gain support required to accomplish assignments; able to build coalitions. (Preferred)
- Always act with tact and integrity, and collaborate with a variety of individuals in a positive and productive manner (Preferred)
- Self-motivated, able to work under stress, and multitask. (Preferred)
- Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills (Preferred)
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks to complete independently; Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines (Preferred)
- Knowledge of current technological trends and developments in the area of info security. (Preferred)
- 2-4 years Experience working in a large enterprise (Preferred)
- 2-4 years Experience in a dedicated security engineering role (Preferred)
- Presentation skills to large and small audiences. (Preferred)
- Subject matter expert in a few facets of security operations and tooling with a specific focus in logging and detection engineering (SIEM) (Preferred)
- Understanding of T-Mobile's network elements and how they work together (EIT, Engineering & 3rd Party). (Preferred)
- Knowledge of federal & compliance regulations e.g. SOX, PCI & CPNI (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Scripting tools (Python/Perl/Shell/HTML/PHP). (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) CISSP and/or CCSK and/or CCSP and/or CISA/CISM certification a plus (Preferred)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $79,900 - $144,100
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
