TheOperations Supervisor will be responsible for a multi-shift team, with responsibility and focus on all plant operations. Background in 6S and Lean principles a must. The position will also serve as the plant Supply Chain representative and provide support for Buyer duties and responsibilities. Must be flexible to support coverage of supervision on various shifts for training, vacation, and overall demands. Must be able to work autonomously as the primary on-site leader. This role is based out of Monticello, INand would require this individual to be on site regularly.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates resources across one or more shifts to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations while promoting a team environment and continuously improving all methods.

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ensure the manufacturing of products is completed and scheduled delivery dates are met.

  • Plans and reviews production operations.

  • Establishes priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.

  • Resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.

  • Utilizes the appropriate personnel based on skill sets.

  • Coordinates job bid system for all jobs across the plant.

  • Evaluates, develops and ensures appropriate training processes are completed when employees move to different jobs.

  • Works with safety committee by attending safety meetings, working on safety projects, ensuring all supervisors are supporting safety within their departments, completing safety surveys and performing safety training.

  • Supports team leaders in the area of quality assurance ensuring quality requirements and procedures for the department and plant are understood and met within all departments.

  • Develops and maintains operational budget.

  • Responsible for selecting and negotiating with suppliers and placing purchase orders for supplies, materials and parts used in the manufacturing process based on production schedules, forecasts and inventory levels.

  • Purchases parts, materials and supplies for use in the manufacturing process using the material requirement planning (MRP) report and KanBan system. This includes reviewing the MRP report daily and visually inspecting inventory for requirements.

  • Placing orders and expediting when necessary.

  • Selects suppliers based on the appropriate criteria and negotiates concerning procurement costs, quality of materials, delivery time and yearly contract.

  • Manages inventory through conducting checks to determine the status of inventory and placing orders based on the MRP system (Oracle) and production forecast.

  • Works through various quality issues including handling rejected materials, notifying supplier of quality problems, processing defective parts, and maintaining and improving raw materials specification.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma and 5 years of manufacturing experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years of manufacturing experience.

  • 3+ years of supply chain experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 plus years professional level sourcing experience.

  • Background in 6S and Lean.

  • 5 years of lead or supervision experience in manufacturing.

  • Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of sourcing and supplier management.

  • Experience with Oracle, Workday and Microsoft Suite.
