Overview

TRC is seeking an Energy Coach to join the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Commercial & Industrial Program team. This position will be focused on helping K-12 schools improve their energy efficiency through a Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Program. The successful candidate will coach program participants through a continuous improvement process designed to identify energy savings opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be a process-driven, personable, team builder, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks working under the guidance of the Program Director. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with internal team members and external customers. Additionally, understanding the decision-making process within school systems would be beneficial. The ability to shape successful cross-functional teams and motivate these teams to work seamlessly through excellent coordination is required. Previous experience with energy efficiency program is preferred.

This position is focused on schools and school districts in the Memphis area. It is located in either Memphis, Tennessee or Nashville, Tennessee with occasional travel across the Tennessee Valley. If located in Nashville, it is a role where the employee will come into the Nashville office 1-2 days a week. If located in Memphis, occasional travel to the Nashville office will be required.


Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Motivate and coach school administrators, facility management and facility occupants to successfully implement a strategic energy management plan.
  • Educate and guide the development of overall continuous improvement plans to participants.
  • Coordinate regularly with program teams, including operations, engineering, outreach and management staff on the implementation progress, target goals and monthly achievements.
  • Facilitate training workshops and other one-on-one events.
  • Attend conferences and events to recruit new participants for the program.
  • Conduct monthly coaching calls with program participants to review progress on the implementation of their SEM program.
  • Discuss energy savings opportunities with technical and non-technical audiences. Present results of site walk-throughs to identify energy savings opportunities.

Qualifications

Required Skills needed for this assignment include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 5 years of project management, energy consulting, building science, education, or related field experience. Master's degree a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills that include highly effective communication, superior customer service to both internal and external customers, a philosophy of continuous improvement, and the ability to uphold a high performing team environment.
  • Ability and experience to effectively work across multiple internal functions (engineering, operations, marketing, etc.) and create/maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with program participants.
  • An understanding of Continuous Improvement Programs and Tools.
  • Self-driven and a team player with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An understanding of the decision-making process in K-12 schools and experience with school energy efficiency.
  • Knowledge of schools and/or school districts in the Memphis area.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing exceptional customer service.
  • An understanding of Energy Star Portfolio Manager and energy benchmarking
  • Demonstrated ability to meet client/project goals, provide project leadership, manage multiple tasks and people, track project performance, and ensure timely and effective project delivery.
  • Experience with energy efficiency or energy efficient products desired.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
