The starting base salary range for a Dental Business Analyst I is $43,000 to $55,000. The base salary range for a Dental Business Analyst II is $52,000 to $65,000. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure & equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Business Analyst I Overview:

The Business Analyst is primarily responsible for performing duties within the daily operational process and member and group inquiry inventory related to claims, enrollment, billing, and access to care issues. This role helps to identify trends and performs root cause analysis to determine business process improvements that will streamline operations and increase operational efficiencies. In addition, the role will require auditing various Partner plans and ensuring our claims vendor is meeting the service level agreements (SLA) established and benefits are coded accurately.

Essential Duties:



  • Conducts day-to-day management of auditing group and individual benefits in addition to reviewing trends from customer surveys
  • Promotes client satisfaction by ensuring our quality service levels are on track
  • Tracks and monitors quality performance by vendors to ensure compliance with Center Medicare Services (CMS)
  • Assists, participates, and receives training in department process improvements and policy analysis
  • Assists with creating, developing, preparing, and maintaining training documentation, and maintains project files and updates
  • Facilitates training on new systems and/or process implementations
  • Works with multiple departments, business partners, and vendors to solicit, collect, analyze, document, and communicate business requirements based on current and future business needs
  • Contributes to business process improvement and policy analysis work for corporate strategic initiatives
  • Serves as the project lead for multiple medium and large complex projects
  • Gathers, analyzes, documents, and validates the needs of business stakeholders
  • Provides functional requirement documents including inputs, processing steps and outputs to meet user needs to assist developers in successfully translating and achieving project goals
  • Creates and assists more senior business analysts with business process improvements and analysis work for departmental or corporate strategy initiatives
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned


Business Analyst I Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Basic working knowledge of dental insurance industry and business-related operations and processes
  • Knowledge of Membership and Billing in addition to Claims Processing
  • Basic knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to address a wide range of audiences
  • Customer service skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, and Power Point. MS Visio, Project, and Access skills preferred
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and maintain attention to detail within time constraints
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment


Business Analyst I Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with data analytics
  • Or, equivalent military experience


Business Analyst I Preferred Education and Experience:



  • 1-2 years of business process analysis and improvement experience
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving experience
  • Experience with data and trending analysis, documenting process improvements
  • Experience with process mapping/process documentation


Business Analyst I I Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong working knowledge of insurance industry and/or business-related operations and processes
  • Strong knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to address a wide range of audiences
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, and Project
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and maintain attention to detail within time constraints
  • Ability to synthesize data from divergent sources and create a final product with a consistent voice, look, and feel
  • Ability to translate between technical and business language
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment


Business Analyst II Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of business process analysis and improvement experience
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving experience
  • Ability to document scope of a small to medium project
  • Or equivalent military experience


Business Analyst II Preferred Education and Experience:



  • Experience with process mapping/process documentation
  • Dental Industry Experience
  • CDT Coding knowledge
