Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

GDMS has an immediate opening for a Deployment Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to work directly with some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The Deployment Engineer will work as part of the existing Deployment team in conjunction with functional development teams to determine strategies, create detailed plans, and support on-site execution of recurring Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) program deployments on the operational system. These deployments occur on a planned schedule but additional out of cycle deployments may also occur. These deployments require close coordination with GD program management as well as our customer and government representatives.

This role includes developing and presenting Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, Microsoft Project schedules, and status reports as required. The candidate must be a detail-oriented, highly motivated individual able to work both independently and as part of a team. Due to our fast-paced environment, the candidate must also be comfortable with multi-tasking in a very dynamic environment. Prior experience with the MUOS system is preferred but not required. Up to 50% travel will be required depending on the scope and schedule of specific deployments.

Key Experience/Capabilities Required

  • Experience as a Project Engineer developing strategies and plans to meet program budgets and schedules.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft PowerPoint to communicate strategies to internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel to develop detailed deployment plans.
  • Ability to review, comprehend, and apply information contained in MUOS technical documents (Software Verification Documents (SVD), Interconnects, hardware layout documents....)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communications skills that enable the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to actively participate in technical discussions and understand how they impact Deployment and Site Operations
  • Ability to perform live troubleshooting over the phone with technical Subject Matter Experts (SME) to resolve deployment issues while on-site.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and linux operating systems
  • Experience working in virtual environments (such as Nutanix)
  • Experience interfacing with Networking equipment (switches, load balancers, firewalls)

Workplace Options:
When not traveling to MUOS sites, you will be spending at least 3 days in the Scottsdale office working with teammates and up to 2 days working remotely. Working fully on-site will occassionally be required to support upcoming deployments.
While at GD, you will be a part of the MUOS team located in Scottsdale, AZ.

Target salary range: USD $110,175.00/Yr. - USD $122,225.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
