Job Profile Summary:

The Manager of Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) Dept. is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring that all administrative and operational processes run efficiently, including managing staff, coordinating patient care, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This managerial role works closely with a multi-disciplinary management team to support various service lines that provide skilled therapy for children. This position works with the Patient Services Representative coordinator(s), ensuring optimal performance of front office personnel, has oversight of the referral specialist team responsible for processing treatment authorizations; contributes to continuous improvement processes and supports strategic goals for the department.

General Job Description:

The Manager of Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) Dept. is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring that all administrative and operational processes run efficiently, including managing staff, coordinating patient care, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This managerial role works closely with a multi-disciplinary management team to support various service lines that provide skilled therapy for children. This position works with the Patient Services Representative coordinator(s), ensuring optimal performance of front office personnel, has oversight of the referral specialist team responsible for processing treatment authorizations; contributes to continuous improvement processes and supports strategic goals for the department.

  • Oversees daily operations for service provision at primary site and when assigned at other sites (patient registration, insurance authorization processes, scheduling, etc.)
  • Enhances workflows and standard operating procedures for support staff (PSR coordinator, PSRs, referral specialist teams) for optimization of scheduling, and insurance authorization processing, ensuring excellent patient/client care.
  • Responsible for maintaining schedule utilization according to FHCSD standards
  • Engages in ongoing monitoring of new patient referrals, and active caseloads for each specialty
  • Develops key performance indicators to monitor deliverables of support personnel
  • Recruits, trains, develops, engages and retains an accountable workforce.Builds positive relationships, inspires others to perform at a higher level, prepares career development plans and retains an accountable workforce.
  • Provides/ensures staff receive all new hire and annual training on time. Completes focal reviews and stay-in interviews of staff assigned.
  • Coaches and counsels staff and administer appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.
  • Ensures applicable regulatory and department standards are met or exceeded and adhered to on an on-going basis (JCAHO, OSHA, Safety & Compliance Standards, FHCSD P&P, etc.).
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and ensures appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
  • May assist with preparing preliminary budgets for assigned program(s) and/or services.
  • May assist with reviews of purchasing requests and monitor expenditures according to approved budgets.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships, reducing silos, keeping excellent communication, and actively participating in processes that support integration and standardization of best practices in service coordination and client care.
  • In partnership with director and members of the management team, works to maximize revenue streams within program(s) and/or services.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and achievement of short-term and long-term departmental goals.
  • Facilitates resolutions of complaints using AIDET and FHCSD Standards of Conduct.
  • Contributes to plans for ensuring maximization of PDS service utilization, productivity, and profitability. Participates in strategic planning and marketing decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

  • 3 years of supervisory experience strongly desired.
  • 3 years' experience in the healthcare industry and involvement in care coordination activities for children and families.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Requires an active Class C California driver's license, proof of liability insurance at $100,000, on vehicle used. No more than 2 points in past 12 months; No suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years.
  • Minimum bachelor's level degree in Public or Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field. Master's level preferred.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal interactions with clients and co-workers as a member of a multi-disciplinary community health team with a diverse multi-cultural population.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity.
  • Demonstrated skills in computer applications and software, including MS Office, data collection, and patient tracking.
  • Effective training and coaching skills; ability to drive results and achieve objectives through others.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with patients and family members who speak English as a second language.
  • Knowledge of functions, services and positions of the program(s) under area of control.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques, including performance management and employee development.
  • Knowledge of the service needs of children with special needs and their families, and the resources for the same.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, create, maintain, and adhere to budgets, fiscal planning, grant programs, and reporting requirements at a managerial level of responsibility.

70,624.25 - 76,577.00

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
