We are currently searching for a Senior Accountant on the Revenue Accounting Team located in Itasca, IL.

This position requires someone with highly technical accounting experience and a working knowledge of ASC 606 as it applies to Software (on-premises) and SaaS revenue recognition. The person in this role will own the monthly revenue accounting close including review of revenue contracts and trends analysis. This role will also be the key point of contact for all financial audits (group and statutory) as it concerns revenue recognition. Outside of close and audits, this role will also ensure that SSPs are established and followed. This role also will ensure the revenue recognition policy is kept current for existing business and any acquired company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly close
    • Ensures that revenue is accurately recognized under ASC 606 (US GAAP)
    • Review of contracts to determine proper allocations under ASC 606 (multiple element arrangements)
    • Understands contract combinations and mid-contract changes
    • Provide general assistance and review of various journal entries
    • Assist in the preparation of internal and external revenue reporting packages
    • Perform daily analysis, review exception reports and reconcile accounting systems to ensure accurate reporting
  • Audit
    • Key point of contact with external auditors for all revenue recognition topics (including preparation of revenue schedules and updates to accounting policies)
    • Review and update accounting schedules (SSPs, MEAs) to support ASC 606 revenue
  • Other Projects
    • Assist in integration efforts of opening balance sheet items for M&A transactions
    • Creating and performing ad hoc queries and analyses
    • Special projects as required by management

Qualifications

  • Knowledge / skills
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
    • CPA or CPA in progress preferred
    • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
    • Technical or practical knowledge of Revenue Recognition standards under ASC 606
    • Exceptional written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel required
  • Experience
    • 3 -5 years of accounting experience (Public is a plus)
    • Experience working with NetSuite and ARM (Advanced Revenue Module) a plus
    • The ability to break down complex issues and tailor communication style to a range of audiences, including non-accountants, and to clearly articulate ideas, solutions and conclusions to stakeholders
    • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize effectively and work well colleagues across businesses and geographies in a fast-paced environment

For Illinois residents - the base salary range for this position is estimated to be between $90,000 - $100,000 annually. Your salary will be determined by various factors, including relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business needs.
