Clinical Charge Capture Analyst Sr Job Responsibilities:
- Performs a range of duties required to coordinate charge entry and charge capture responsibilities.
- Reviews accounts in Charge WQs daily, applying coding rules and requesting missing information necessary to release the charges.
- Ensures services billed are consistent with the record for compliance with all clinical billing regulations, makes additions and deletions to the charges as necessary and monitors for delinquent charges; makes corrections in patient accounting as needed.
- Assists in the ongoing updates of CPT and ICD10 coding to ensure proper reimbursement guidelines and educational materials are correct and updated, as necessary. Notifies clinical teams of changes.
- Evaluates registered procedure codes and diagnoses on an ongoing basis, and recommends corrections and changes for accuracy and continuous improvement.
- Analyzes charge review findings and makes recommendations to service line leadership to improve documentation, charging flow, and accuracy.
- Reviews denial trends transferred from the PFS team for documentation and charging opportunities. Corrects or provides appeal support for claims, as necessary, and provides feedback on educational gaps.
- Works closely with Health Information Management (HIM), Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), Clinical Informatics, and Patient Financial Services (PFS) departments to resolve charge capture and claim edit-related issues.
- Provides ongoing support to the manager to improve service line charge capture and charge reconciliation workflows.
- Works with service line leaders, providers, and clinical teams to ensure charge and documentation compliance for new and existing services, implementing charge capture process improvements and annual updates to CPT/HCPCS code selections.
- Ensures accurate and complete assignment of CPT/HCPCS codes, modifiers, and diagnoses that are supported by medical record documentation.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Clinical Charge Capture Analyst Sr Additional Requirements:
- Work schedule: Full-time Day Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm
- Education: Associate's Degree
- Experience: Four (4) years of related clinical experience in field of practice, CPT coding or billing role
- Certification: Clinical specialty credentials or one of the following coding credentials: AAPC/AHIMA: RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CPC, CPC-H, or ROCC OR 2 additional years clinical experience in lieu of certification
