Stewardship Compliance Innovation Expertise Network Communication Education Job Summary The Histo Pathology Core Lab, an on-site wet lab located at UT Southwestern, is looking for a recent graduate to fill the Research Technician II role. The Research Technician II should have knowledge of Biology, Biomedical, or other Life Sciences along with a passion to learn. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a continuous devotion to gaining practical experience in the art of histology while on the job. This position will share tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and staining responsibilities with 10 other bench techs in the Histo Pathology Core. With training, the position will also take on specialized sectioning/staining responsibilities not performed by others in the lab. Laboratory Expectations * Assist with experiments in the laboratory including working with laboratory mice. * Able to operate basic lab equipment. * Record data in required formats. * Assist in preparation of research material for reports or publication. Experience and Education * Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required. or * Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent. or * High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent. Job Duties * Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field. * Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus. * Assists in collection of data for project reports. * Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures. * May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project. * Performs other duties as assigned.
