Position Overview
Essential Job Duties |
To support research activities that are ongoing in areas related to nuclear reactor technology, including research in advanced nuclear reactor design and nuclear data generation.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate is expected to perform independent research and develop molecular dynamics (MD) and ab initio (e.g.,
DFT based) atomistic simulation techniques in support of investigation in the area of advanced nuclear reactor development. The candidates will join an internationally recognized group that is active in the development and utilization of such methods in the quantification of the dynamic structure factor (the scattering law) for key materials used in nuclear technology. Understanding the effect of radiation on the properties of these materials may also be a part of this study. The opportunity also exists for performing experimental studies at the
NCSU
PULSTAR reactor and at national facilities (e.g., Spallation Neutron Source, High Flux Isotope Reactor, National Institute of Standards and Technology reactor, etc.) in conjunction with the modeling and simulations. |
