POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
The Logistics Specialist (LS) will oversee the cradle to grave process of materials for the contract through acquisition, allocation, distribution, delivery, calibration, repair, and disposal of equipment. The LS will have knowledge of government shipping requirements, including details of security, hazmat, and Post/location special needs. Communicating effectively with all points of contacts during the logistics process and maintaining inventory control and shipping/receiving records is a vital requirement for this position. Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Maintain database of logistics information, orders, shipping status, delivery status, inventory, etc. through multiple technology platforms
- Interpret data on logistics elements: availability (inventory), maintainability (life cycle), supply chain management, distribution, and transportation
- Confer with logistics management team to determine how to optimize service levels, maintain supply-chain efficiency and minimize cost
- Track product flow cradle to grave while maintaining up to date records abiding by contract requirements and all Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements
- Monitor inventory transactions at warehouse facilities to assess receiving, storage, shipping, or inventory integrity
- Shipping of equipment through unsecured commercial, unsecured pouch and secured pouch
- Communicate with/or monitor service providers, such as, ocean carriers, air freight forwarders, and customs brokers, DHL, FedEx, UPS, State Department Diplomatic Pouch Services
- Contact carriers for rates and schedules
- Tracking and receipt of all shipped/incoming packages and providing quality control regarding accuracy of materials
- Compiling purchase order request in a timely manner to meet program sustainability
- Update the Purchase Order (PO) Tracker daily with status
- Create shipping plans for shipments and receivables, including funding and expediting.
- Support techs out in the field for broken/worn-out equipment, calibration, and new PPE
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use their hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds and work within a warehouse and office environment. The employee must be able to visually identify hazards within the place of work and be able to effectively hear well enough to hold a conversation with others by telephone and/or face-to-face with moderate background noise levels.
- The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. The warehouse environment is conditioned space; however, the employee may experience increased heat and humidity levels while performing work in this environment.
Deliverables may include:
- Daily order tracking status (shipped, received, etc)
- Procurement Order Request (as needed)
- Weekly Inventory Log
- Monthly Inventory Log
- Daily Program equipment readiness (BOM fulfillment %)
- Program equipment shipping status (as needed)
- Other duties as assigned to fulfil contract requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge, methods, practices, supplies, tools and equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of utilities and facilities.
- Packaging, shipping, receiving, quality assurance inspection, warehousing, inventory control and physical inventory practices, procedures, methods, and techniques.
- Work practices and safety, security, health and sanitation procedures relevant to the storage, distribution, and calibration of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Recordkeeping and filing systems.
- Proper lifting techniques.
- Safety policies and safe work practices applicable to work performed in a warehouse environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment, meeting quick turnaround deadlines
- Self-Starter and team working abilities
- Knowledge in government supply-chain management and logistics functions
- General understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
Licensing and Clearance Requirements:
- Valid State Driver's License.
- Active Top Secret Clearance is preferred. At minimum, an active Secret Clearance with the ability to complete a background investigation to upgrade clearance level to Top Secret.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma with six years' experience of progressive responsibility in procurement, distribution, and warehousing roles; or
- Associates in business related field (preferred) with three years' experience of progressive responsibility in procurement, distribution, and warehousing roles (preferred).
