Job Summary: The Business Manager will work with business leaders, plant managers, and asset managers, internal customers, vendors, and other subject matter experts to provide support and direction to optimize the company's business objectives and operational performance. This position is responsible for the analysis, consolidation, and presentation of all types of statistical data, information, trends, and patterns for financial data. This position will support Business Manager responsibilities at the Cedar Bayou Station. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support all operations activities through collection and analysis of information and the dissemination of intelligence on financial performance; perform detailed analysis and prepare comprehensive reports to support all business functions.
- Utilize multiple data sources to collect, analyze, consolidate, and provide timely, accurate, presentation of all types of mission-critical business metrics, trends, and patterns within plant financials (Capex, O&M, and G&A). Utilize data sources appropriately for specific ad hoc assignments. Effectively convert data to meaningful information for executives.
- Design and implement reports, tools, and presentations that lead to more effective and efficient decision-making. Examples include monthly and quarterly scorecards, strategic reports, and dashboards.
- Plant Business Process owner with responsibility for all plant business and administrative policies.
- Accurately track, evaluate, and report on NRG's Capital and Major Maintenance projects monthly.
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial and operational business planning and forecasting activities in coordination with FP&A (PowerSam, Plant Characteristics, and Planned Outage Schedules).
- Develop, manage, and track the Plant AIP metric process.
- Assemble, prepare, and submit quarterly Benchmarking Data for the organization.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as necessary and in a clear, timely manner.
- Work closely with other members of the organization, building relationships and the understanding of organizational roles within NRG while establishing productive & influential relationships across all functional areas to ensure consistent and well-coordinated presentation and analysis.
- Manage and direct the monthly accounting close process, variance analysis, departmental budgeting, payroll allocation, accounts payable/receivable, payroll and the year-end audit process for their respective plant.
- Promote and maintain an environment of teamwork and cooperation among staff.
- Supervise the preparation of required information to external customers.
- Provide financial information to NRG management, including directing and preparing monthly operating results, variance reporting, project cost information, and forecasting.
- Responsible for the maintenance of accounting records, preparation of financial reports, and development and usage of statistical and accounting information.
- Appraise operating results in terms of costs, budgets, trends, and earnings.
- Support plant leadership on the annual development and preparation of the 5-Year Budget, Business Plan, and Business Plan Presentation for Cedar Bayou 1 & 2, Cedar Bayou 4, and Cedar Bayou 5 (new build).
- Responsible for tracking and reporting monthly, quarterly, and annual variances to budget and keeping plant leadership informed and on track with meeting approved budget.
- Ensure that 5-Year Business Plans are maintained and up to date.
- Manage warehouse operations, including inventory values, and material handlers in Local 66 Union.
- Responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley section 404 compliance.
- Ensure major maintenance intervals are tracked, scheduled, and budgeted appropriately.
- Prepare presentation for Monthly Metrics review meeting.
- Required to work with co-owners' budget and communicate strategic plans aligning projects with Long-Term Service Agreements and general accounting practices associated with MSA's.
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment and/or out of doors work environment.
- Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required
- Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
- May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
- Requires operation of a personal computer
- Requires occasional travel outside service area
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid state driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and 5 years related business experience including demonstrated knowledge and experience of accounting standards and principles by preparing and managing operating budgets. OR
- 8 years related business experience including demonstrated knowledge and experience of accounting standards and principles by preparing and managing operating budgets.

- Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Teams), specialized business technologies and applications (e.g., PowerSam, FPR, PowerGADS, SAP, Outage Scheduling Software, Unit Characteristics Portal, etc.) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs.
- Excellent communication skills; including strong oral and writing skills, and the ability to effectively listen as well as a willingness to voice opinions and offer solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
- Comprehensive knowledge and strict adherence to NRG business practices, procedures and principles.
- Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Positive attitude, supportive to colleagues and acts as change agent.
- Power plant, and energy industry experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
- Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
