Job Description:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, maintenance, security, and operation of the systems connected to the Cardinal network. This position also involves providing support for technology issues and occasional end-user assistance. Candidates should enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment. They will also be required to support off-hours change windows and participate in on-call responsibilities.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Architect, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot Active Directory, Group Policies, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Windows roles and features, and clustered file server environments.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, Microsoft 365 groups, distribution groups, and licenses.
  • Perform patch management and apply software updates and security patches to systems promptly.
  • Collaborate with the security team to implement and maintain security policies and compliance measures.
  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, troubleshooting, problem ticket escalations, and end-user documentation.
  • Manage and maintain virtualized server environments using VMware software.
  • Administer and monitor Remote Desktop Services, addressing performance issues and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Utilize knowledge of Azure services to design and manage Azure environments, configuring and managing Azure resources through the Azure Portal, Azure CLI, and PowerShell.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide Tier 3-level user and hardware support for Windows-based network systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to recover from service interruptions quickly and prevent recurring problems.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Work extended and/or alternative hours for system upgrades or other tasks as necessary (e.g., Change Windows).


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise in the administration of Windows Active Directory, Group Policies, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Strong experience with SharePoint/Microsoft 365 environments, email security firewalls, and email filtering.
  • Proficiency in managing Remote Desktop environments.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance features in Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of networking and Active Directory.
  • Strong software and hardware troubleshooting skills for servers, desktops, and peripherals.

Qualifications:


  • 4+ years in a system administrator role.
  • 4+ years supporting a Microsoft environment.
  • 3+ years designing and delivering Microsoft cloud-based technologies.
