City/State Norfolk, VA Overview Work Shift Rotating (United States of America) Sentara Healthcare is currently recruiting fora Cardiovascular Anesthesia Tech to work at the Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Norfolk General Hospital Full Time: Rotating Shift Hours: Rotating, varies between 6a-230p, 7a-330p, and 11a-7p. QUALIFICATIONS: College degree in a science related field or graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program required. EMT/Paramedic/Operating Room Experience strongly preferred HEART HOSPITAL OVERVIEW: Sentara Heart Hospital is the region's first and only dedicated heart hospital. The cardiothoracic operating room is part of the surgical services team that treat open-heart (cardiothoracic) patients. We are made up of five operating rooms which includes a hybrid OR. Job Summary Monitors patients EKG and invasive hemodynamic pressures during cardiac and general surgical procedures. Performs cardiac outputs, special invasive pressures, as well as various clinical pathological tests, such as blood gas analysis, electrolytes, blood clotting times, etc. Is proficient in the performance of intra-aortic balloon pumping, and intraoperative autologous transfusion. Performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment specific to the department. Provides didactic and clerical training to employees and CVT students. Utilizes the Gravitational platelet system.
