HSE Operations Manager

Green Garden Products, a subsidiary of Central Garden & Pet, the number one supplier of top-quality flower seeds and non-GMO vegetable seeds for the gardening industry, is now seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Operations Manager in our Norton, MA facility to also support our Lockbourne, OH operations. This is an Exempt, full-time position. We are looking for a professional HSE Manager to coordinate and oversee our organization's safety while diving deep into the operations of the business. The HSE manager role priority is to implement the right processes and practices across the organization. The specific duties include formulating strategy, improving safety, performance, logistics, and securing compliance. You should be ready to find ways to increase quality of customer service and implement best practices across all levels. Ultimately, we'll trust you to help us remain compliant, efficient and profitable during the course of business.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
  • Help the organization's processes for logistics
  • Examine data and analyze to improve profitability
  • Track and report on quality systems with a specialty on building and PM maintenance
  • Concentration on risk management, OSHA requirements and safety programs
  • Manage safety objectives, reporting and implement strategies to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Assist in conducting and evaluating employee safety incidents and investigations, tracking and minimizing reoccurrences
  • Enforce new hire safety orientation training and documentation
  • Develop a waste management program
  • Perform quality controls and monitor safety
  • Find ways to decrease recordable accidents
  • Conduct safety audits/inspections on all covered locations
  • Other duties as needed to support operations

Qualifications

  • BA degree in Business, Operations, HSE Management or related field or AA degree and proven work experience as a HSE or similar role
  • Thorough knowledge of safety management and operations management in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with operations to stay involved with processes, procedures and improvements
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands on approach
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are required, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work independently and effectively in a fast paced and high stress environment, be proactive, and follow up on outstanding issues until a successful resolution is achieved is required
  • Some travel may be required to support the Lockbourne, Ohio facility
