Director of Marketing PMLS

Mahwah, NJ (Hybrid: In-Office 3 times a week)

Job Summary:

Utilize strong Business Development and Product Marketing experience, to lead the tactical and strategic management responsibilities for a complex medical device product line. Responsible for managing the activities and direction of the Mindray North American marketing team to achieve the company's objectives, a marketing team to achieve division, personal and corporate goals. Work with Vice President of Sales & Marketing and global business unit to drive the strategic direction of the division including the product development road map.

Position Specifications:

Essential Functions

  • Define the function of all disciplines within the direct report structure. Determine business and personal objectives to be established at the beginning of the fiscal year with each report. Review these objectives quarterly and adjust personnel direction to assure objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all direct reports to establish and maintain appropriate product branding, positioning, and pricing, structure and life cycle maintenance. Assist direct reports as required to achieve individual and division goals.
  • Together with sales management, develops business plans and executes marketing and sales strategies and tactics to drive growth and differentiation.
  • Determines customer/market needs and engages with product marketing to drive product and data development priorities and ensures implementation in support of launch preparation, sales execution and market penetration.
  • Works within a matrix, with sales management, to support sales management focus upon timeline-based sales initiatives relative to achieving specific product sales goals within defined geographic domains and with Corporate and IDN Accounts management, to support bids and contracts processes when such activities are centered on specific sales initiatives.
  • Develop and own the North American Annual PMLS strategy plan in collaboration with sales, clinical, and service leaders.
  • Develop and own the PMLS competitive playbook to drive strategy with RFPs and large proposals in collaboration with sales leaders and all messaging stakeholders.
  • Work extensively with the Sales Training Director and Sales Directors to assist with building out a meaningful and impactful new hire training curriculum.
  • Build out the Key Opinion Leader program within PMLS to drive webinars, references, and new product evaluations.
  • Establish annual departmental budget. Maintain quarterly expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Attendance and contribute to organize and prepare for all relevant PMLS conferences and trade shows to include large 8-figure competitive sales engagements.
  • Build out the National Sales Meeting theme and vision in collaboration with the MarCom team and Sales Leadership. To include presentation responsibilities.
  • Work closely with purchasing, planning, finance and sales departments in negotiating and managing successful OEM contracts.
  • Involved with defining the communication strategy for the organization and how to implement international campaigns to local markets, which will include the identification of communication channels and implementing the use of these channels to promote the company's products, involving interaction with both external teams and internal sales department.
  • Develops and executes cross-functional commercialization plans with Product Marketing and Marketing Services to ensure the needs of the full commercialization lifecycle are well planned and aligned across stakeholders.
  • Ongoing collaboration with the MarCom Director and team on the PMLS media and promotional plan for each major product category within PMLS. To include providing PMLS content for Blogs, Press Releases, SEO, and respective website pages.
  • Assist with corporate presentations regarding new business opportunities. Work closely with corporate business development to establish priorities of such opportunities.
  • Work with Operations to manage inventory impact associated with product transition.
  • Assure that the department follows all processes and procedures in accordance with QA/RA guidelines.

Decision-Making Authority:

  • This position requires the individual to be autonomous on most departmental and personnel decisions. Minimal approval required from the division Vice President.
  • Financial - Department Budget, Tradeshow budget needs
  • Training - Department Policy and Procedure Training, Technical Seminars, Field Exposure, Technical Conference
  • Policies and Procedures - Involved in company's policy and procedure approvals

Knowledge/Educational Requirement

  • Experience: 15+ years experience in increasingly challenging marketing management roles, including capital equipment and a solid knowledge of hospital IT integration.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required; MBA in marketing or business strongly preferred.
  • Leadership: 5+ years of direct report responsibility (hiring, mentoring, performance management)

  • Motivated, self-driven, strategic individual possessing excellent communication and presentation skills. Effective in setting departmental and division direction. Must possess the ability to delegate appropriately and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong leadership qualities with a passion for success and an ability to mentor others.
