Description

This position provides support for audiovisual information systems, digital signage and video conference systems/applications, as well as other hardware and software support to Information Technology and to the departments supported by Information Technology. This position assists Information Technology clients and participates in Information Technology teams to further the development of the information "commons" at the School of Medicine.

Examples of Duties

65% Hardware and Software Support
- Provides end user support for audiovisual information systems, equipment and applications, video conferencing endpoints, computer hardware and software.
- Troubleshoots and resolves audiovisual software and hardware problems and under the direction of higher level support technicians and/or while adhering to pre-established Information Technology department guidelines will troubleshoot network connectivity problems.
- Installs, configures and updates computer hardware peripherals and software applications supported by the Department of Information Technology and units/departments supported by Information Technology, and other departments within the School as needed.
- Diagnoses and resolves computer hardware and software issues related to video conferencing, telemedicine and other audiovisual communications.
- Documents service requests, applications and systems using provided ticket tracking and documentation systems.
- Manages video conference and resource calendar schedules, including scheduling, updating and removing meetings as requested, in addition to monitoring and troubleshooting problems, and updates web pages and calendaring system accordingly.
25% A/V System Installation and Maintenance
- Following pre-established design guidelines and adhering to the Department of Information Technology standards, installs, provisions, updates and tests audiovisual information technology equipment, video conferencing endpoints, display technology, audio PA systems, audio reinforcement systems and other room audiovisual technology.
- Installs, provisions, monitors and maintains digital signage display technology including hardware displays, multicast transmitters/receivers and content/endpoint management software.
- Regularly monitor conferencing equipment and related devices to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Assists with the technical set up and teardown of conferences.
10% Network Support
- Troubleshoots networked enterprise A/V systems, signage displays and video conferencing technology under direction and/or within pre-established department guidelines.
- Assists with the integration and provisioning of network audio-visual communications systems.
- Establishes and maintains documentation relevant to network modifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Credentials to be verified:
- High School Graduation or equivalent AND
- Any one, or any combination, that totals one year from the following categories:
- progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession; or
- college course work which included Information Technology (IT), or a closely related discipline (60 semester hours, or Associate's Degree, = one year) AND
- One year work experience providing end-user technical support or related help-desk support (experience can be in conjunction with requirement #2) );* AND
- Possession of a valid Illinois Driver's License and an automobile to carry out the duties of this position.
*Note: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology or a closely related field may be substituted for requirements #2 and #3 above.
