SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking an Epic Systems Engineer Senior to join our Core Infrastructure team. This full-time role will work days. Open to remote work.

Purpose of this position: Under limited supervision, this job is responsible for management of servers running InterSystems and Epic software. This position understands how Epic software is managed at the system level and how issues relate to the monitoring of database growth, copying Epic environments and system basics such as printing and user access. Conducts regular day-to-day communication with the organization's Application teams. Responsible for developing and documenting the standard internal database procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform installations, upgrades, patching, and database configurations for IRIS and Epic
  • Monitor and troubleshoot any unusual system behavior and performance concerns
  • Identify opportunities for process/systems improvement related to the Epic infrastructure by demonstrating independent thinking
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the OS, IRIS, and Epic security models
  • Perform backup, restores, and refreshes of Epic
  • Perform print device setup, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain system decision, setup, and configuration documentation
  • Communicate environment activities (downtimes, upgrades, patches, refreshes) to all relevant parties
  • Provide go-live and post go-live support
  • Conduct communications with vendors and other outside resources to resolve complex infrastructure issues when needed
  • Participate in the process to improve and expand the technologies available to the end users, to enhance patient care, quality and safety, and overall business functions
  • Provide regular and/or off hour on call support as scheduled
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • 6 years relevant Cache DBA or Epic ESCA experience
  • Experience with LINUX
  • Experience in configuring and monitoring high availability Epic Cache and related infrastructure systems
  • Associates of Arts (AA) or Bachelor's degree

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment

  • Analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and provide timely status updates
  • Interpersonal, customer relationship, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to explain or demonstrate technology in a manner suited to the audience (i.e., business, clinical, or technical team members)
  • Ability to work across teams to ensure IT system upgrades and deployments are conducted with minimal impact to the operation
  • Ability to write and adapt complex shell scripts/tools
  • Knowledge of high availability, database failover models, hardware architectures, SAN administration, VMWare, Windows Server OS, scripting, print management and Citrix


License/Certifications:



  • Operational Database Administrator Certification
