We are seeking an interface engineer who will work alongside Interface Developers and our EMR project managers who execute integrations for our customers. This person will work collaboratively and cross-functionally to translate then develop specific customer needs/requests into better solutions to facilitate workflow and results reporting. Other key focus areas such as report generation and process enhancement are crucial to this role's success. The position reports to the Lead Architect of EMR Integration.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out systematic problem identification, analysis, and resolution in support of the EMR Development, Salesforce, and Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) teams
- Analyze and reduce complex problems into simple, manageable requirements
- Code functions that will be used for standard and custom HL7 transformations
- Facilitate all phases of project from kickoff to go live and transition to support, while managing project plan and driving deliverables based off timelines identified.
- Facilitate workflow discovery and analysis discussions with technical and clinical staff both externally and internally.
- Ability to discuss clinical documentation workflows, clinical ordering workflows, and lab workflows.
- Create and maintain required project documentation for multiple assigned integration projects, to include SOPs, project plans, meeting notes, issues and turnover to support documentation.
- Provide go live support to Project Managers and EMR Integration clients by assisting with HL7 message review for orders and results by troubleshooting technical issues for the first 30 days of go-live.
- Ensure quality for all output and continuously apply Healthcare IT industry best practices.
- Document defects based on issues found and assist with enhancement request documentation and tracking.
- Serve as technical resource on EMR Integration team to assist in HL7 spec review, development requests and prioritization, and technical documentation/systems architecture updates.
- Support the HL7 design for future developments at CareDx and aid in deploying changing requirements for customers.
- Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives for EMR integration team
- Familiar with SQL select statements
- Responsible for EMR metrics development
- Collect feedback from customers and internal stakeholders
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in interface engineering roles
- Deep understanding of HL7v2 and FHIR standards for healthcare data exchange
- Proven experience with Mirth Connect and Epic Bridges, including creating, testing, and maintaining interfaces.
- BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Science or related fields
- Experience working with large EMR systems (including Epic, Cerner, etc) required.
- Solid understanding of interface engines and protocols used in healthcare settings, such as TCP/IP, MLLP, and Web Services.
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages relevant to healthcare interfaces, such as JavaScript and Java.
- Project management skills to handle projects from conception through implementation and evaluation.
- Experience in setting up and configuring end-to-end data flow and troubleshooting interface issues.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret clinical and business needs and translate them into efficient data interfaces.
- Capability to work closely with clinical and technical teams to develop and fine-tune data exchanges to meet organizational goals.
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task effectively
