Vice President - AMVUTTRA Global Brand Lead

Overview

We are seeking a visionary and dynamicAMVUTTRA Global Brand Leadto oversee the global launch of our flagship AMVUTTRA brand into the highly competitive ATTR-Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) market.

This critical role will shape & refine global positioning, core messaging and global (cross-functional) strategy of the brand as we aspire to redefine the therapeutic category. In the process, the candidate will play a key role in helping Alnylam's commercial organization evolve; optimizing the role of Global Marketing in an organization that is rapidly growing and expanding our commercial capabilities.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is a strategic thinker, able to set the agenda with balance between nearer term success across waves of global launches, while also driving focus on levers of long-term program value (e.g., lifecycle opportunities). This colleague will identify drivers of value, and facilitate development of transferable commercial capabilities in the process.
  • Will have recent, deep and diverse experiences leading biotech product launches in specialty areas, as well as navigating intense competition/competitor launches, with in-country operational experience and demonstrated successes. This candidate will bring strong cross-functional leadership skills, and the ability to navigate business challenges with a sense of purposeful urgency, creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Compliments these commercial experiences with clinical acumen (ideally development or research experiences) in order to drive durable category leadership through relevant evidence generation and lifecycle planning, together with Medical Affairs, and other Program Team counterparts.
  • Has a proven track record of Leadership. Demonstrated impact leading direct and matrixed teams with high levels of engagement, accountability and performance. Track record coaching & developing direct reports (role currently manages three direct reports), andholding cross-functional partner teams accountable for contributions to global commercialization efforts.
  • Is able to drive broad organizational focus through clear narrative, strong Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management; including across the Commercial & Development organizations, with Regional Business Units and Executive Leadership. Preferably with proven track record working across a variety of cultures, and/or developing global strategies that encompass US, Europe and Japan.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Brand Leadership

  • Oversee development of and alignment on global brand strategy for initial launch years, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market needs.
  • Define and evolve global brand positioning in a competitive and evolving market
  • Build a compelling narrative that resonates across a broad range of diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals (HCPs), patients, and payers - but also other key stakeholders such as investors/media, medical societies and patient advocates
  • Analyze competitor strategies and market trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Together with Medical/Development counterparts, identify priorities for continuous evidence generation and lifecycle planning
  • Lead efforts to drive earlier diagnosis of cardiomyopathy, such as assessing emerging technologies or other experimental efforts to improve early detection and diagnosis

Global Launch Execution

  • Provide global oversight of the comprehensive global launch plan, integrating cross-functional input from marketing, medical affairs, market access, and regulatory teams (amongst others)
  • In partnership with Regional Business Units, guide optimization of "second wave" launches, informed by learnings from "first wave" launches (i.e., drive rapid institutional learning, scale best practices)
  • Oversee the maintenance/evolution of "core" global brand assets (e.g., messaging frameworks, campaign materials to be localized by regional teams)
  • Collaborate with market research and analytics teams to monitor market dynamics, brand equity and refine strategies in real-time.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including regional marketing leads (Regional Business Units), key opinion leaders (KOLs), advocacy groups, and industry partners
  • Partner with medical affairs and scientific teams to ensure alignment on clinical and brand narratives, as well as evidence generation/lifecycle planning priorities
  • Foster a highly engaged, aligned and accountable cross-functional/cross-regional ATTR/AMVUTTRA brand community
  • Support development of executive communications including, but not limited to updates to Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and/or external investors

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a central point of coordination across global functions, ensuring seamless communication and alignment during pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases (e.g., lead AMVUTTRA brand discussions in Global Commercial Leadership Forum).
  • Drive high levels of engagement, alignment and accountability across the organization, including holding cross functional teams accountable for contributions to global commercialization efforts
  • Foster a culture of innovation and accountability within the global brand team.

Performance Management

  • Establish, track & communicate attitudinal and behavioral metrics associated with brand positioning and launch performance across markets, in partnership with analytics
  • Regularly report on brand performance and provide actionable insights to executive leadership
  • Drive clear accountabilities for comprehensive, cross-functionally coordinated global commercialization efforts
  • Coach performance and support the growth & development of direct reports

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, marketing, business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, Ph.D., or MD) preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience with 10+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical marketing, with at least 5 years in a global or regional commercial leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successful product launches, particularly:
    • in competitive therapeutic categories
    • with experience in in-country roles (particularly US, ideally across multiple)
    • in cardiovascular, oncology, immunology or other highly specialized therapeutic areas
  • Expertise in competitive intelligence, market access strategies, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong personnel/team leadership - driving high levels of engagement, accountability and performance
