Purpose of the Job The IT Solution Architect II will work with both IT and business teams to define and guide the implementation of solutions. The IT Solution Architect II will apply expertise to ensure technical solutions not only meet business requirements but are implemented in an architecturally consistent manner that adheres to Credit Union standards and best practices. This position is responsible for designing and maintaining the high quality scalable, extensible, secure solutions that meets the needs of ecosystem for the Credit Union. The IT Solution Architect II will develop and align guiding principles that will help provide direction for our technology organization from planning through implementation. They will develop and refine standardized artifacts to help support their architecture domain. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a diligent problem-solver, and an excellent communicator who can effectively balance business needs with technical feasibility and scalability. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Designs effective and efficient integrated solutions by working with business stakeholders to analyze business requirements and collaborate with technology teams to define and design the target architecture.
- Proposes and drives initiatives to improve application development and support processes for enterprise systems by analyzing current technological solutions and proposing architecture changes that will evolve at the pace that the business ecosystem and strategy demands.
- Acts as a key contributor to architectural models, designs, guiding principles, use cases, and other documentation as needed.
- Ensures our architecture governance and practice principals are delivered with a consistent and prescriptive methodology.
- Provides end-to-end technical solution, guidance and expertise to help solve business problems.
- Builds critical working relationships with the business teams by gathering a thorough understanding of the business models and processes employed.
- Documents application customizations that would bear scrutiny by an internal audit or external regulators.
- Works to define and deliver ecosystem driven current and future state of a business change.
- Builds working technology solution roadmap to achieve desired future architectural state.
- Conducts architectural impact analysis assessment of a change on business and IT ecosystems.
- Participates in Architectural Review Board (ARB) governance process ensuring business and IT changes align with ecosystem architecture, requirements, and strategies.
- Documents and communicates solutions architecture and design best practices and knowledge amongst the stakeholders.
- Works on multiple highly visible, business critical projects and initiatives simultaneously.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have wide banking technology coverage skillset and knowledge of core banking business components, processes, and functional architecture
- Preferred knowledge of various technologies such as Responsive UI/UX, Mobile and Web, API Services/Integration/Microservices, Infrastructure, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Security, ChatBots, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) etc.
- Advanced technology/architecture/solution development knowledge in digital space required
- Must have ability to understand all business processes within the credit union
- Knowledge of TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or other architectural principles experience required
- Must have knowledge of business process digitalization
- Must have ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required
- Must have ability to effectively partner with cyber security management to ensure the application of best practices to all designs and solutions.
- Must have ability to produce, enhance, and drive architecture roadmaps and associated principles
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and present at technical and management levels
- Must have ability to participate in innovation activities such as ideation, prototype development, and real world application evaluations
- Must maintain an open and candid working relationship with team and immediate supervisor
- Must have ability to translate between business and technology
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation with strong leadership skills.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
- Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer

Education and Background
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline preferred
- 10 or more years of overall information technology work experience required.
- 5 or more years of proven experience as a Solution Architect is required.
- Experience with Java, REST, JSON, and SOA required.
- 5 or more years of proven experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide solutions is required.
- Experience in the Financial Services domain preferred.
- Experience working with major products and services vendors (Infrastructure, Software, and Services).
