Reporting to the Director for Community Standards, the Associate Director will assist with the operations of the Office of Community Standards. This will primarily focus on the development and implementation of educational and campus outreach programs and will assist with carrying out the goals and objectives of the Red Flag Campaign, campus violence prevention efforts, training, Anti-Hazing and education. This position will also be assisting with the conduct management database maintenance, informal conduct proceedings, and Behavioral Review Team admissions documentations. This position will also work closely with the NWACC Title IX Coordinator and Director for Community Standards in the development of strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for Title IX initiatives, violence prevention programs, and education and outreach for the College. The Associate Director will assist as a backup advocate providing victim-centered confidential advocacy to student and employee victims, survivors, and complainants of interpersonal violence. Provides services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with and under the Director for Community Standards and in close collaboration with Title IX Coordinator.

  • Oversees the development and implementation of campus-wide initiatives that address sexual assault, dating/interpersonal violence, stalking, and hazing including workshops, training, awareness month events, and coordinated community response team based on trends seen in the student population.

  • Works with the Director of Community Standards to manage and coordinate student driven institution-wide events or educational programs (e.g., Sexual assault Awareness Month, Relationship Violence Awareness Month, NO More, etc.) under the College's Red Flag Campaign.

  • Aids in creation of professional development materials and training for campus partners on topics such as classroom management, restorative justice, etc.

  • Assists Title IX Team and/or Director of Community Standards with both student conduct and Title IX Complainant intake; conduct triage and appropriate assignment of cases.

  • Assists Director and Title IX Coordinator in communications with student conduct and Title IX parties while protecting the independence, neutrality, integrity, and privacy of the investigation. Includes communicating rights, responsibilities, policies and procedures and other communications as needed.

  • Assists with development of training for faculty, staff, students, Title IX investigators, adjudicators, and those involved with processing Title IX complaints.

  • Assists with facilitating prevention and response training programs to individuals, faculty, staff, students, and the community.

  • Works under the Director of Community Standards in partnership with the Title IX Coordinator and NWACC's Title IX Team to ensure the College's Title IX-related procedures, training, and guidance complies with federal and state regulations, guidance, and best practices

  • Participates in College and community committees and task forces as needed.

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to violence prevention for students.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Rate of Pay $46,150 annualized

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those of a sensitive nature internally and externally.

  • Must be able to interact in a positive, professional, and respectful manner with campus community, including staff, faculty, students, stakeholders, advocates, and advisors.

  • Must have excellent and demonstrable interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships & communicate clearly & effectively with vendors, students, employees, peers, administrators, campus personnel, clients, state officials, and the public.

  • Experience with public speaking, developing presentations, trainings, and ability to lead the audience.

  • Experience working with survivors.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters with tact and diplomacy, and to maintain confidentiality of information as needed or to protect the rights of individuals or the College.

  • Ability to work some evenings as needed for campus-wide events or activities germane to the position.

  • Ability to lift boxes and or items weighing 25 lbs. to move event materials etc. to various locations.

The work environment typically consists of a professional office setting with a moderate noise level, including sounds from conversations, office equipment, and occasional movement of staff. Lighting is standard for office spaces, and the temperature is controlled to remain within a comfortable range. Employees may occasionally need to visit other areas, such as storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations, where environmental conditions may vary. Infrequently, exposure to louder noise levels or physical activities, such as moving lightweight materials, might be required.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, criminal justice, public administration, human relations, or related fields.

  • At least three years of relevant professional experience which must include one or more of the following items

  • Experience working directly with college students experience working in student conduct, developing and presenting educational programs,

  • training staff in a higher education setting (such as student conduct, Title IX, Student Affairs).

  • Working knowledge of relevant state and federal laws including Title IX, Clery, VAWA, and Campus SaVE, as well as higher education issues, trends and initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, higher education, student personnel, public administration, human relations, or related field.
