Summary

Hitachi America Ltd. is searching for a Procurement Engineer to join the Value Integration Division. Per direction of the Division Director/Project Manager, this Position will support the procurement function and the project execution of the Particle Beam Therapy (PBT) business and other business areas in North America and overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Support the procurement function and entering effective contracts. This includes commercial terms understanding and negotiations.

  • Work closely with site office site and organization.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to prepare required documentation for the PBT business.

  • Develop business relationships with prospective business partners.

  • Provide risk management and cost reduction activities.

  • SAP order placement including management of AR, AE and backlog.

  • Interface with transaction team, Hitachi Group companies and business units, and external suppliers to streamline transaction activities. Regularly interact with Hitachi Group companies and business units to understand, document, track, and fulfill business needs.

  • Support Manager in administrative matters and administer the contracts assigned by Manager for the most part independently, however, help by Manager or senior colleagues is expected to be provided in critical matters.

  • Manage the effort to resolve all technical and commercial issues during execution of contracts. From sourcing thru warranty execution including delivery control.

  • Collaborate with Hitachi's Import-Export Control department, ensure compliance with export regulations.

  • Learn technical background of the products assigned by Manager

  • Travel to supplier site as required for the purposes of contract negotiation, delivery control, engineering clarification or inspection support.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement/ sales/ project management or related role is desired.

  • Must be capable of working independently as well as a part of cross-functional team.

  • Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work well with various personnel demonstrating a good attitude and function in a multi-cultural dynamic work environment.

  • Able and Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.

  • Basic knowledge of MS office and latest PC technology

  • Proficiency in English.Japanese language a plus.

  • Extraordinary analytical and personal skills

  • Experience with reading/understanding commercial/ legal terms and language

  • Stress resistant, multi-tasking

  • Able to understand commercial/ legal terms/ language.

  • Open-minded with respect to other fields of expertise (other than just engineering) and international business organizations (respect for foreign cultures)

  • Well organized and able to prioritize.
