Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Employee Experience, the Employee Experience Specialist I (Training & Development Specialist I) will work cross functionally to assist with delivering learning and development interventions to effectively on-board, train, coach and measure performance of management, staff and physicians in meeting established organization goals. Work is focused on participating in onboarding and engagement efforts impacting individual and organizational performance, and retention of employees, as well as developing, implementing, and facilitating onboarding and engagement and recognition programs for individuals at various levels within the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and participate in the delivery and content of corporate-wide New Employee Orientation program including but not limited to program design, design & maintenance of training materials, compliance with The Joint Commission requirements, ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provides support for on-boarding new employees post-orientation. Provides tools and checklists to help new employees assimilate into the organization and counsels others on the on-boarding and integration of new employees into their specific department/division.
  • Manages pre- and post-learning activities, communications and materials. Assists the learner registration process and Empowers (Learning Management System). Provides support to end users and addresses questions or problems as needed.
  • Measures and reports on training analytics such as attendance, course completion, assessment scores and learning impact, among other things. Creates and delivers reports demonstrating compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements as needed. Continuously updates programs based on feedback.
  • Participate on a cross functional team to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based wellness promotion strategies, programs and services. Develop and oversee the content of the wellness application, social media and general communication. Lead wellness committee to increase engagement and assist with implementation.
  • Participate on cross functional teams to manage hospital wide programs and/or special events which may include coordinating with event leads on theme, timing, venue, speakers, etc.; assist in developing materials such as programs, emails, invitations, etc.; processes and maintain information, registration and/or databases; assist in researching and scheduling details such as venue, space, caterers, musicians, photographers, audiovisual and technical requirements.
  • Manage vendors to ensure adequate supplies within an established budget.
  • Composes and/or assists in the preparation and handling of correspondence (such as form letters/emails and follow up on ongoing cases). Compiles and prepares data into various reports and dashboards. Assists with various special projects and other duties as requested.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Any one or any combination of the following, totaling four years (48 months), from the categories below:
      • credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in education or other fields related to training and development such as human resource administration or business administration or closely related fields
        • 30 semester hours equals 12 months
        • 60 semester hours equals 24 months
        • 90 semester hours equals 36 months
        • 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's Degree equals 48 months
      • credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in fields other than those previously listed
        • Bachelor's Degree equals 3 years (36 months)
        • Master's Degree equals 4 years (48 months)
      • work experience as a human resource or training professional
    • Two years of professional work experience in the training and development profession 1


    1 A Master's degree in education or other fields closely related to training and development (such as human resource administration or business administration) or a Master's degree with a concentration in these fields may be substituted for one year of such experience.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Master's Degree in organizational development, training and development, or related discipline
    2. Knowledge of adult learning principles
    3. Demonstrated training delivery skills
    4. Ability to manage goals and deadlines while handling multiple projects
    5. Ability to consult and interact with various levels leadership
    6. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
    7. Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional project teams
    8. Excellent verbal and written skills
