Requisition ID req32145 Working Title Public Relations Spec,Sr Position Grade 13 Position Summary The University of New Mexico's Communication & Marketing (UCAM) department seeks a dynamic Public Relations Specialist to execute various institutional-wide communication and public relations initiatives designed to enhance the university's ties to its internal and external constituencies. This position reports to the director of University News and Communication, organizes, coordinates, and oversees public relations activities within the communications department, positive relations with the public, and the print and electronic media. Develops and oversees content creation, dissemination of press releases and media communications, calendars, special promotions, and general information on related activities and events. This position requires excellent narrative writing and editing skills and the ability to research and source information from multiple perspectives. To incorporate these elements into a compelling narrative, the successful candidate will have a working knowledge of multimedia technologies, including video, audio, photography, social media and web skills. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Qualified candidates must be self-starters, able to work in an integrated marketing and communication team environment and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Candidates must be able to interact well with a diverse faculty, staff and student population professionally and productively, and create positive work relationships across campus and within UCAM.
