The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women's and 10 men's programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation's premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as "The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Public Relations Specialist I for the Athletics Marketing and Communications department.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Oversees, coordinates, and manages all marketing, game presentation, fan experience, digital and traditional advertising, and promotional efforts for Rutgers Athletics for assigned sports including football and basketball.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned, such as pregame events, enhancing the gameday atmosphere and leading video board presentation, selection of music and campus/community athletics-marketing relations.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in sports administration, marketing or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in sports marketing/event management field.

Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to make decisions independently.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or other graphics.
Equipment Utilized

  • Microsoft Office tools.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift boxes at times.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

  • Clean Driving Record.
