Clerk Accounting: School Health Billing

This is a 100% Grant Funded position.

The Clerk Accounting position at Montefiore Medical Group involves performing various financial and administrative tasks to ensure accurate and efficient accounting operations. Responsibilities include processing invoices, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with budget preparation. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential financial information. This position supports the overall financial health of the organization by ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

* Performs financial record keeping and complex clerical duties involving either patient billing or financial control activities.

* Maintain financial records or accounts using spreadsheet software systems or mainframe databases. Audits and enters data for accuracy and completeness. Prepares routine reports.

* Performs routine billing activities including interviewing and registering patients, checking patient's insurance coverage and financial status, calculating fees and receiving and recording payments. Provides information regarding fees, charges and regulations and updates financial and coverage information.

* Maintains various statistical reports such as time and attendance report or clinical activity report. Contacts clinical staff or departments to resolve problems or correct errors. Prepares routine reports.

* Maintains department's file system. Prepares new files and labels, purges outdated material and retrieves files.

HOURS:

Monday to Friday 0830A - 0500P

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required, BA preferred.

Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.
