General Notes

Please no phone calls or emails. The projected end date for this temporary assignment is April 1, 2025. This assignment is located at the JJ Pickle Research Campus.

Purpose

IT support for our department, including faculty, staff, and students; approximately 65 total employees.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with UT IT Administrator as needed on IT issues, assists with laptop maintenance, and laptop imaging, sets up backup routines, accepts project data for storage/backup, updates research websites as requested, sets up and maintains servers, updates CEER servers with security patches and updates SSL certificates Troubleshoots any hardware and infrastructure issues.

  • Desktop Tech: Assists with computer troubleshooting, installs OS, and MS Office when requested, and troubleshoots internet connectivity issues in coordination with the IT Administrator CEER Web Page: maintains current news, updates CEER contacts regularly Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of Active Directory and JAMF EPM systems. Experience with server management, networking protocols, and system monitoring tools. In-depth knowledge of Windows, Linux, and virtualized environments. Experience with backup systems, disaster recovery, and security protocols. Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a keen attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certification in systems administration (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Red Hat Certified Engineer). Experience working with cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with networking technologies including routers, firewalls, and VPNs. Experience in managing and deploying enterprise-level systems and infrastructure. Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Ansible). At least 3 years of Desktop Support experience.

$28.85

  • The work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
